Time permitting Lutsk will pre-record a brief interview w/Chesney to be played at halftime on WEEI.

My plan is also to be there as well to keep 45 company.

I will be here in spirit (but physically I am running the last chess club of the year for my kids in Newark, NJ). I will be hurrying home to see the game and I hope there will be video saved of the conference.

The presser will be archived Rob. Should be up shortly after it concludes.

Is it me or my computer or are they just running a little late from the Noon conversation with Coach Chesney?

Never mind. Looks like it is starting now with dramatic music.

Just tuned in to the Q&A in the middle of his answer about leadership. I love him already.

My notes but I am sure it'll be archived later:
Brendan Glasheen (sp?) was moderator. Lasted 20 minutes.
Chesney said it has been a "great transition" with a "big signing day coming up." A screen shot showed Chesney with 5 COY honors (in 8 seasons as head coach total, excellent!). 12 All Americans played for him. His attraction to HC includes his attraction to Worcester community and HC's "storied history."
He said more than once that this will not be "my team" but will be "our team" including the players, HC community and Worcester community. If it ever becomes "my team" "we are in trouble."
He is big on collaboration and that will determine what the best way forward is. He met with the team already. His goals are that his players "become productive members of society" not just great football players and that his attraction to HC includes that it "values life after football."
He said that the facilities were already "pretty good" but now are outstanding.
He wants to maximize the talent we have and we will not be "one dimensional so that defenses can take away one thing." The "players skills will determine what the scheme is" matching what they do best. On defense, the goal is to take away what they do best.
What he looks for in assistants is first "character" over Xs and Os. How they "connect" to the players. He has seen some great Xs and Os coaches fail because they could not connect.
He knows the PL because he grew up in PA and knows the teams reputations and the high academic level involved.
When younger, he kept a journal for what he would do if he was ever a coach and he is still learning even from subordinates and has not "closed the book" on learning hos to be a good coach.
As for his father, he did not say he would be an assistant or not but indicated they have not had time to talk about the move in great detail.
He wants an "exciting brand of football."
I am suer we'll hear more and more details at the press conference.
First impression: VERY POSITIVE.

I'll confess to having been less than thrilled with the idea of hiring the coach from Assumption. I was wrong. This guy could not have been more impressive.

Glasheen did not do him any favors with some awkward conversation and questioning, but that didn't stop Chesney from being very impressive. He reminds me of a less gimicky PJ Fleck from Western Michigan and now Minnesota.
I was particularly impressed with his philosophy and thoughts on assembling his staff (balancing competence & connection).

Well done. I’m pleased at how much he respects HC football and its position as Worcester’s team, also how excited and appreciative he is for the opportunity. Hope this begins a long and successful run.

Let's keep things in perspective. Bob Chesney is not Nick Saban.

Let's keep things in perspective. Bob Chesney is not Nick Saban. ...yet. Perhaps a Nick Saban with integrity?

Let's keep things in perspective. Bob Chesney is not Nick Saban. True, but can't we hope that we hired the next Rick Carter, or, even better, the next Brian Kelley (Grand Valley St--13 years, Central Michigan--3 years, Cincinnati, 3 years and on to ND.) I'll be happy if we get 7 years from a guy on the way up.

I guess my post went over a bunch of poster's heads. I was taking, perhaps, too subtle of a jab at indianhoop, who said:
"Assumption is the new Alabama...a remindah, they lost to Bentley last year.
Let's keep things in perspective people...."

Brendan Glasheen is cringeworthy at times.
Chesney is very, very impressive.

Very impressive press conference from Chesney.
So refreshing to see him speaking from the heart rather than just regurgitating a prepared press release.
