Love Chesney hire; adnp not so much. I DO like and appreciate ADNP. The pieces are now being put in place for a Holy Cross sports renaissance: 1.) Vastly improved funding via the Crusader Athletics Fund (If you have not donated, please DO!) 2.) A string of very good coaching hires in a variety of sports 3.) Beefed up sports marketing and public relations via new positions, new hires and new programs. 4.) Vastly improved video broadcasts of games in a wide variety of sports. This is not only good for fans, but supports recruiting of distant athletes whose families can now follow their careers. 5.) An outstanding upgrade of our athletic facilities, which promotes recruiting, the athlete experience and improves team readiness and moral. The glass is half full, guys and gals! And the level is rising. Substantial change is happening! Now is the time to stop caterwauling and start to lend your meaningful support (See #1 above). Go Cross !Chu - let me also add to this a legit sports radio broadcast/on-line & app streaming deal in place for FB and MBB as well as twice monthly coaches shows that are also broadcast & streamed on WEEI and the PL Network.

I agree with Chu. As far as next year, this year's team was a lot better than 4-7. They gave a whoopin' to UNH, coulda-shoulda beat UConn, and you never knew what team was going to show up for the rest of the games, and that problem falls on the coaches. I like TG personally, but never felt he could bring this team to the next level for a couple reasons, but that now is ancient history. Our new guy brings in fresh enthusiasm, has a full compliment of scholarship football players, and some quality assistants. He faces pretty tough opening games, but BC surely didn't look like Alabama yesterday. Keep that game respectable, don't get too banged up, and there will be a winning record next year. Take book on it!

Not surprisingly, if you look at his bio, all of his prior experience was in marketing, communications, and fundraising. Does he have the instincts of a hardcore sports guy for identifying and pursuing coaching talent? The statistic above would indicate no.

Take book on it! Last Years Record = 4-7 (yes, we beat UConn in the 1st half, crushed UNH, lost to Lafayette....) Next Year's Roster = Down Next Year's Coaching Staff = Up Next Year's Schedule (by W-L projections) = About the same (yes BC far superior to UConn but pencil L's for both, ditto Harvard and Monmouth, etc) Prediction: 4-7 This was my precise and cold-blooded process last year pre-season when I predicted 4-7 2017 record FWIW. Of course game upsets (both favoring and not favoring HC) will most likely occur just like last year. Of course I hope we go undefeated.

You forgot to mention that Pine is the boss of the athletics department. Noticed many changes up there since he arrived? Luth, lots of coaching changes, I especially love the Carmody hire, thank you. And we have a athletics staff, media, social and otherwise, working just fine. Keep up the good work Nate

The Carmody hire is on the verge of being a disaster. The social media has certainly increased, but it’s hard to say that it has actually returned anything of significant value.

Luth was in motion when he arrived, yes, but how close to the 2/3 of the total cost to “get the trucks rolling up the hill” was raised at that time?
Just for a comparison, the PAC was announced almost 5 years ago with a lead donor gift of $ 25 million in hand. How much of the $ 92 million for that project has been raised? For a hint, anybody see trucks rolling up the hill toward the parking lot between Healy & Lehy?
I’d suggest that Nate Pine made a difference in getting the trucks rolling to the Luth sooner rather than later.

Just for the record, we play 12 games in both '18 and '19. If we win 6 games in either season (the 2019 sked is more daunting in many ways than next year's) Chesney will indeed be the genius some here believe him to be.

It hasn't helped place us back in the national consciousness? Haha well played, SOV. Isn't the only way to raise the consciousness of HC athletics to win games? How about a PL football championship to get started?

Isn't the only way to raise the consciousness of HC athletics to win games? How about a PL football championship to get started? SOV is cleverly referring to Pine’s bio, in which he starts: “Nathan Pine is in his fourth year as the director of athletics at the College of the Holy Cross. Since being named the school's eighth director of athletics on Dec. 17, 2013, Pine has quickly revitalized the athletics program and transformed the athletics culture on Mount St. James to put Holy Cross back into the national consciousness, while continuing to honor the academic mission of the College.”

But whose idea was it to put HC "back in the national consciousness?" Reallly? Even if this weren't a fool's errand, which it is for a small school in Worcester, MA, you do it by winning games, like Rick Carter and Mark Duffner did, not by tweeting. .
