Three SJ players? I thought only two have been confirmed. Maybe Jeff Oliver's kid is definitely coming.

Nice story until the end. What’s the throw away about no plans to remove the Cousy statue? An attempt at humor?

Holy Cross has announced no plans to remove Cousy’s statue from in front of the Hart Center.
“Well, I hope so,” Cousy said. “They’d have a protest march from the pigeons.”
Joke by writer Doyle?? Rather strange to put in an article, without explaining the meaning

Maybe the joke is that, after seeing this politically correct attack on something sacred, the Crusader mascot, nothing is safe. No matter how good and how revered something or someone is, e.g. Bob Cousy, the virtue signalers/do-gooders/political activists may go after it.

I hope this is not deemed to be “political” but this is a prime example of “fake news.”
Create a phoney story and then deny it yourself.

Guess I hadn’t thought of that given how the article seemed to be written without bias prior to that comment (or barb).

How would a reporter get away with that? Clearly no editor looked at it ahead of publishing or posting, wherever it was

What? Not a particularly funny joke, but somewhat amusing. Don't get you who don't get it or understand why you could possibly find it offensive.

Nobody is holding them hostage inside the gates on College St. If the mascot and symbol are so offensive, go somewhere else.

The Telegram needs better reporters and better editors, or postyers need to read more carefully.
As the article says, more than once, this is about the mascot.

I'm pretty sure the fact that there was any process or discussion means they were being heard. If they weren't heard there never would have been any discussion at all.

I will admit that I didn't read the article to intensely - the "look at me, I'm offended" nonsense goes right through me - but again, if they are so upset about a mascot, they are more than welcome to go somewhere else.

So sad to hear about these whining fools. They lost--too bad for them. Can we stop the incessant belittling and degrading of people who hold opposing opinions? You have a difference of opinion with these people. it doesn't make them "whining fools". Let's be better than this.

The Telegram needs better reporters and better editors, or postyers need to read more carefully. As the article says, more than once, this is about the mascot. Plenty of reference to the name as well ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Whenever this is discussed there seems to be a lot of overlap between "nickname" and "mascot". Sometimes they're the same - sometimes they're different. As an adult, it wouldn't bother me if that foam Iggy didn't show up anymore. I just don't need cartoonish characters running around - but that's just me. Is that the entirety of the "mascot"? Fr Boroughs made reference to reviewing the visual representation of the moniker. To me that encompasses more than the mascot. Logos (like the one in center court) are different than Iggy our mascot even if they both look like a knight

Looks like we'll have to disagree on this one I didn't realize that treating people with basic respect and courtesy was now within the realm of "agree to disagree". What an age we live in.

Read all the comments in the Telegram. Faculty members can leave and find another college job if they think they're so valuable. As for the students, leave also if you don't like what HC has historically represented. Oh, by the way, read true historical accounts of the Islamic incursions into Europe and slavery/slaughter of thousands/millions. Cupcakes!
