Some interesting talent still on the recruiting board-- could give Cozier time at RB as well as WR- gotta believe he would be terrific in open space and YAC

I think Derek Mountain returning is a huge plus and I'd like to see him targeted more often.
As far as the WR position--I think Ayeni is talented and could be ready for a breakout season as he likely becomes a go-to guy. Martin Dorsey caught 1 pass in his first 2 seasons (a 6 yard TD) before going for 95 receptions as a Junior & Senior. Ayeni got playing time as a freshman (12-165-2TD) and a soph (14-170-1) and made some athletic catches. There should be no doubt about the other Texan, Spencer Gilliam's certainly fast and has a nose for the ball. The freshmen look promising (they always do). I wonder if Justin Bruno might see some snaps at WR?

Agree on Bruno possibly becoming a WR. He’s 6’2” and looked like a pretty dynamic playmaker coming out of high school.

The 2019 football roster is now updated on the Holy Cross football web page. Notable -- --- There are five 5th-year seniors listed -- DB Corey Stefanik; TE Derek Mountain; DL Kevin Bucceroni; OL Brett Boddy; OL Jackson Dennis. --- Two underclassmen on last year's roster are no longer listed. --- One former player who was not on the roster last year has returned. --- There are 86 players listed. (Consequently, unless there is any further attrition, that leaves only 4 roster spots open for additional recruits or transfers. If the two commitments noted recently are considered, there are only two openings left.) Breezy, did you notice any change of positions ?

Here's a look at the number of players by listed position for the past four seasons and for the upcoming one:
Position= 15--16--17--18--19 number of rostered players
DB= 15--13--14--20--22 are some big enough to move to linebacker? DL= 13--15--11--12--10 LB= 13--11--12--09--06 corps looks pretty thin LS= 02--02--02--00--00 assume long snappers now listed as offensive linemen (or maybe a tight end?) OL= 15--17--16--17--19 P/K=04--03--05--03--03 QB= 05--06--06--05--05 RB= 06--06--06--06--07 TE= 05--05--06--05--06 WR=15--11--12--13--08
So, it looks like we have some imbalances versus prior years for Defensive Backs, Linebackers, Wide Receivers.

Can always count on KY to crunch the numbers. I have a couple of comments that might put some of these changes in perspective. During the Gilmore era, HC used a conventional 4-3-4 defensive alignment. The Chesney staff has shifted to a 4-2-5 defensive alignment, so there is some justification for increasing the number of DB's and reducing the number of LB's on the roster. Still, it could still be rationally argued that the ideal roster might include a couple more LB's and maybe only 20 DB's. An interesting player is Liam Doran, one of the three players from St. John's HS. An LB in high school, he is currently listed as a DL -- at 215 pounds (a real head-scratcher). Doran is only one example, but I think there will be several position changes as things progress. Pure speculation on my part -- but I think there is a reasonable chance that Justin Bruno could be converted to a WR (similar to Brendan Flaherty), and that Henry Teeter (fairly light at 210 pounds for a TE) might also be converted to a WR. Perhaps one of the OL's might be converted to a DL. And Mason Copley, shown as a TE on the roster, might be converted to a DL, which was his position in high school. (Still speculation, but I think Copley was changed from DL to TE last year because TE Cole Pirwitz was lost for the season due to injury.) The one long snapper from last year who graduated (Dixon) was listed as a WR on last year's roster. Another long snapper from last year (and this year) is listed as an OL. I feel confident that the coaching staff has all of this under control.

Also important to note that the return of two 5th-year senior OL's means that only one starter from last year (Costello) will not be returning. Since Costello was injured for much of last season, it means our entire starting OL for much of last year will be returning in 2019.

Take 1 off the board. Jackson Leak - DL from GA to Colgate. Colgate also got an OL commit from OH the other day.
Awfully quiet on the hill right now with two weeks left.

From nj.com this morning -- article entitled "Updates on N.J.'s Best Available 2019 Recruits." *** Jaaron Hayek, ATH, Wayne (N.J.) Hills Update: According to Hayek, "Villanova and Princeton are at the top of my list right now. Other than that, a couple of coaches have been in contact with me," he said, Monday night. He's also been in contact with coaches from UMass, Kent State, Holy Cross and Delaware. *** Ayir Asante, WR, St. Peter's Prep (Jersey City, N.J.) Update: One of N.J.'s most productive receivers, Asante committed to Holy Cross on Jan. 14, and will sign to the school on signing day. He also held offers from Navy, Howard, Hampton and Lehigh, where he had committed prior to the early signing period before switching paths. *** Full article: www.nj.com/expo/sports/g66l-2019/01/71a7aa649c3831/updates-on-njs-best-available-2019-football-recruits-2-weeks-from-signing-day-marlyn-johnson-brian-ugwu-more.html

Let's hope that's a plus and not a wash....there seemed to be a lot of games the OL wasn't protecting on the same level as the Pats were Sunday. One would think another off season of work would make them very good!

Another solid commitment from a recruit who had 13 offers (according to Rivals) and fills a need at the WR position!

Coulson held 14 offers: 5 Ivy's, 3 Patriot, William & Mary, Western Ill, Air Force, Stetson, Florida International, Valporaiso; recent article about Pitt taking an interest in him.
So......
Late signing period 3 commits; total of 17 kids. Leak is off the board as he went to Colgate. With 5 WR's in the mix (Purdy, Coulson, Asante, Thomas, Kreimer) I would think coaches turn thoughts elsewhere toward possibly DL/DB (Spencer?).
Another couple of kids that are in the mix are Guillamette - a long snapper from CT; coaches also following Austin Hill - a 6'5 TE/DE from TX who is 2* rated but only holds offers from Drake, Florida Tech, Columbia and Davidson. Brown recently visited him a well.

Well it won't hurt !!
Methinks Nate Pine got this mention done prior to his departure. Dozens of big-time programs have built mega athletic facilities in the last 2 years so it's most unusual for HC to get grouped with behemoths like Auburn, Clemson, Michigan and even Northwestern.
BTW, from what I've gleaned of late, Texas A&M has the best athletic facilities in the country.
