Did I get this right ?
The Astros were spying on the Red Sox to see if the Red Sox were spying?

Very interesting to see the Sox roll out a starter in the 8th inning because of bullpen concerns. Porcello looked strong last night - wonder if that'll carry over into Houston in game 4. . Not so much...but at least he got through four with the game tied

Is Opening Day over yet? You guys are taking this thread's title to absurd lengths. Couldn't someone have started a "Playoff" thread or, maybe even a "World Series" thread?

If the fans had not reached and hit his glove, I think he makes that catch!!!

Great call, I'll take it...except that the ball was probably beyond the fence and therefore a home run. However there was no video to prove it

However there was no video to prove it There was a video in ESPN this morning with a side angle. It clearly looked like the fan reached over the fence and interfered. The hosts of the show agreed as well. Not being a fanboy, but video evidence seems to back up the call.

Didn't see that one, but from the straight on view, the fan hit the glove and then Betts, still going backwards hit the wall. I know his glove was somewhat behind his body, but his body was a foot or two away from the wall. Will this guy be ostracized in Houston like that Cubs fan that had a huge interference some years ago?

Just watched some ESPN video, 3 guys discussing the play, but none of them actually understood the interference rule (only when the ball is not beyond the fence) which is easily found with a quick Google search

One thing I just looked up at Lou's prodding. . .
Because the fence has some thickness to it, the in-play/not-in-play line is the plane on the fan's side of the fence. If the contact occurs on top of the fence, it is interference

He may be ostracized, but it will not be like Chicago.

I don't think the Red Sox have ever assembled a better outfield defensively than the present contingent. Really fun to watch.

I don't know if anyone else noticed last night when Bregman hit another ball to deep right almost in the exact same spot as the night before when he was called out because of fan interference, but it was very obvious that there were 3 empty seats in that first row! Either nature called, they were getting beers and nachos or they were not in the park! My guess is the last one! ! 92: Thanks in advance for your "congratulations Red Sox and fans for winning the ALCS!" !

Well the Sox got something out of Price and Kimbrel last night anyway! Would be nice if Sale's got 12 good innings left in his arm!
Not having the DH in a NL park hurts the Sox; between JBJ, AB and JDM someone has to sit. And, just in case you were wondering, none of the aforementioned have ever played first base.

I don't think the Red Sox have ever assembled a better outfield defensively than the present contingent. Really fun to watch. These guys are good. They bail out the Sox pitchers a lot. JBJ deserves serious gold glove consideration. Benintendi, the weak link of the three, might not be a gold glover, but he's pretty solid Yaz, Lynn, and Evans were pretty good too. 8 outfield gold gloves in their short time together (including a minimum of one for each of them)

Normally, a no brainer that it's JBJ. Happened a decent amount earlier in the season, especially when JBJ was hitting under .200. Hard to bench the ALCS MVP. Benny had a cold September, but has been decent in the play-offs and is leading the team in runs scored. I don't see Martinez sitting at all. Cora has some thinking to do. There are worse problems than too many good players.

For their range and arms, at least, I give the Baby B's the edge
Unlikely, in this era, that the current trio will stay together in Boston long enough to make a valid comparison with others.

There are worse problems than too many good players. On the question about what to do in the NL park, see the link below. Look at his home/away batting averages. Even with the hot second half, he hit only .193 on the road for the year. I know he has been great in the playoffs, but it seems to me that it might make more sense to bench him on the road, use him as a late inning defensive replacement or to pinch hit against righties. Certainly, I would not start him on the road against a lefty with a season-long average of .185 against southpaws. www.espn.com/mlb/player/splits/_/id/32362/jackie-bradley-jrAnyway, it's going to be over after two games at the NL park anyway. Wish I had a broom emoji

One wild idea being bounced around local sports radio (which is a great place to get wild ideas) Betts played mostly 2nd base in the minors and a whole inning there this year. Move Betts to 2B, Martinez to RF, and bench ice cold Kinsler. Not endorsing, just reporting one local theory

Also heard that JBJ is hitting .193 on the road this season vs .277 at home. Think that makes it a pretty easy decision. Late inning defensive replacement on the road in a National League park

Expect Cora to use the same lineup at the NL park as he did during the summer, with Mookie moving to center, JD in right, platoon at 1B, 3B. Maybe spots Holt at 2B vs. an RHP, but he sticks with guys even when they are in a funk - and worth recalling that Kinsler did go .308-.357-.462 in the ALDS.
