Shows 3,950 now. 4,000 should be a slam dunk.

Last year -- which was a February date -- the total was 6,111 donors for $1,648,787
Number of donors down about seven percent. I can't remember the matches from last year, but i don't think the match amount was as high as this year's.
My impression is that 2018 was publicized less than 2017. Last year's publicizing by Heather Palmer and the Crusader Athletic Fund seemed to be more robust than this year.
Also this year, it was much more difficult to split gifts, which may have cut back on amounts.

Last year also had a $1 million challenge: 392 fewer donors (-6.4%) than last year. Not sure if having it on Valentine's Day - February, last year - vs. a non-descript day in April this year had an impact.
Everything else being equal - if the total 2017-18 HC Fund drops 6%, Holy Cross will fall well below the magical 50% alumni participation rate it has had numerous consecutive years as I recall only rounding up was Holy Cross able to achieve 50% last year. Also recognize this "Day of Giving" includes many students, parents, staff, not just alums.
Considering everything going against it, I repeat that Christene Riendeau's leadership; her staff; Class Chairs; Class Agents; and 5,719 donors should be thanked for their loyal support of the College.

My other alma mater, Northeastern University, has a giving day scheduled for April 12. Promo note states that last year's event generated 2,739 gifts totaling $498,215. Participants get a pair of exclusive Northeastern socks to celebrate their loyalty.
HC clearly has NU beat when it comes to participation rate and average gift size. NU wins the goofy apparel battle...

Considering that yesterday was “a non-discript” day on April, after months of controversy, the results yesterday were excellent. Everyone who participated, including the Advancement Office, should be congratulated.

The baseball team gets $42K from the event:
Hi Baseball Alums, Hope everyone had a good weekend! Good win by the HC Baseball team yesterday in extras against Navy. I’ve heard from many of you over the last couple days and I appreciate your commitment to HC Baseball. As a group we were able to raise $13.9k for HC Baseball which places us behind Football at $25k (28.4%), Track at $17k (23.4%), and Crew at $14.2k (18.4%). Given that those teams are significantly bigger we should be happy with our showing as 142 people made a donation. As a result, the HC Baseball team will receive 14.2% of the matching gift and with a total of 1,891 donations to Athletics the Baseball team will receive an additional $28k, which gives the baseball team roughly $42k in additional funding. I know many of you have expressed frustration regarding the handling of the Crusader issue and I’ve passed along your concerns to the administration. I want everyone to know that I respect your decision regardless of whether you donated or not as it relates to the Crusader issue. The hope of my email is to put the HC Baseball team in the best possible position to succeed and for the guys to have a better experience than we did! This additional $42k will go towards making that experience better. Thanks, Jimmy
