Tough way to end. Lost 7 of last 8. Good effort this weekend. Gave it our best shot.

Does that mercifully put an end to the 2017-18 HC athletics campaign?

Does that mercifully put an end to the 2017-18 HC athletics campaign? I hope so and I am hopeful that next year will be a lot better.

The season is over but for the kudos to the coach and players who played their arses off this year. And of course congratulations goes out to adnp who led another crusader team into the end of the year playoffs finishing fourth of six teams and stealing a win in. the two out of three playoffs versus Navy. Way to go Nate!

Does that mercifully put an end to the 2017-18 HC athletics campaign? Zoe Matherne is running in the NCAA qualifier in the 800 meters. She ran 2:06 today at the ECAC’s to finish second.

This may sound crazy, but I'm wondering if anyone else may have been the thinking the same thing.
Game two, yesterday: Two outs, bases loaded, bottom of the ninth with the game (and series) winning run ninety feet away. I was only following on the Live Stats feed, so I couldn't see where/how the infield was set up, but with all the bunting this team has done this year, did anyone else think "Let's drop a suicide squeeze and then head back to Worcester." ? If it didn't work, we were no worse off than a popout to second base to head to extras.
Just wondering..........................

Very, very rarely does any coach, even Dicenzo, squeeze with 2 outs. If he knew his batter was going to pop out, maybe he would have tried the squeeze.

hoops, I am sure that Ignutz recognizes that most coaches don't do this but based on DiCenzo's penchant for bunting, and the presumed expertise our players have doing so much bunting, it is a great question. While I watched some of the game, I had to turn it off before it got to this point due to other commitments and have no idea how the Navy defense was set up.
A good "second-guess," Ignutz.

With 2 outs,it would not be considered a suicide squeeze. the batter could be thrown out at first and the run would not count even if it crossed home before the runner was out. But if the third baseman was playing deep, it would not have been a bad idea to bunt for a hit. We did bunt conservatively just to advance runners all season but I don't know if we bunted 'for a hit' even once. There is a big difference.

And part of my thinking being that the surprise might have led to everyone being safe, and thus the Crusaders heading for AWP this weekend. Oh well, as the Brooklyn Trolley-dodger fans used to say, "Wait 'til next year!"

It's not a "suicide squeeze" with 2 outs. the infielders just need to field the ball and throw to first for the out. Suicide squeeze would be a play if less than 2 outs, runner breaks from third before the bunt is laid down.

ncaa, I'm betting if Navy is really "loaded" when we play them next year, we'll beat them easily. They are not Mickey Mantle who was still great when loaded. Or, did you me "talented?"
