Isn't this part of the problem? We are at the "same level" as a public university with 20,000 undergraduates.

You know, it is interesting that for all their billions, I think that Holy Cross' athletic faciltiies, especially now with the Luth, are superior to the Ivies.
I've been to Harvard and Yale basketball facilities, the Yale Bowl and Harvard stadium (Princeton football field years ago) and as much as we complain about Hart & Fitton, they are equal to or better than those Ivies except Harvard has the lights and nice scoreboard. Yale Bowl a dump. And Harvard doesn't have as good as LAC, probably not Yale or Princeton either.

I like hearing about upgrading the dorms and building a new dorm which, I hope, will mean more students. I wonder why HC does not offer much in the way of online courses - or even a degree? That is becoming a good revenue stream at other institutions. Of course, we don't want to become a University of Phoenix, but would we really want to become a smaller-scale Alabama? It could be hard to maintain our identity should such a change take place. The summer courses show we are looking in new directions and that is one thing that can really help the overall athletic program.
As to lights...I am still at a loss as to why we do not make Fitton ADA compliant. Yes, some of the ADA regulations are a bit over the top, but isn't that a good way to show we are entering the 21st century? And, Fitton is one of the most visible parts of the HC campus. After all, how many passers by will ever see the fields on top of the hill? But, TPTB may have some good reason (other than simply money) for kicking this can down the road for decades now.

As noted in a previous thread, the cost to make Fitton ADA compliant has been estimated to be well over 25 million.
More than likely, the entire structure would need to be taken down to the steel superstructure with a design in place to add a concourse level at mid level that could be reached by ramps and elevators on both sides of the field. New press and guest boxes would also need to have ramp and elevators for access.
The new Fitton would not resemble the current Fitton in design.
There are other building changes in the pipeline ahead of the new Fitton including a lower campus locker rooms in a separate building.
However, if I hit Poweball tonight, I may donate funds earmarked to the new Fitton Football Stadium, with lights. 😊. Provided my Trustees and Family approve. Roflol.
