I'll correct myself - in 2014, we were 10-5-3 overall and 2-5-2 in the PL (the 14 yr streak is in the PL)

You can get records back to 1991 in the PL Record Book. HC had a 3-2-1 PL record in 2000, and a couple of other winning records before that.

Wow - I feel so much better about this program now - only 17 consecutive PL losing seasons. and we're funding this type of team with Title IX athletic aid. Calling all those with daughters, start kicking now. the $ are there to be distributed

I'll correct myself - in 2014, we were 10-5-3 overall and 2-5-2 in the PL (the 14 yr streak is in the PL) 2014 was a strange year. Started 6-0-0 and 9-0-2 and then the wheels fell off in conference play. That looked like a year where things could've turned the corner. It was not to be.

well they did beat UMass Amherst yesterday 2-1 I think this year they have more depth of the bench and quality from the incoming freshman. These incoming freshmen are the first year of Casey Browns recruits.... While its great to win with the talent level you inherit it may take her 3-5 years to turn around the program

Thanks, Lou The home team article does mention the HC keeper, but neither of the goal scorers. The keeper, soph Sophia Lettieri, did not play last season. Maybe the writing will improve when the regular season begins

women lost 2-zip last night to Bryant - record now stands at 2-4 Nothing much has changed in our sports so far this fall, as this team has our only 2 wins. men's soccer - volleyball - field hockey are all winless (of course, football is 0-1 as we know)

Sorry for the long post but I don’t think the story of the HC 2014 women’s soccer squad has been told anywhere and it is worth telling … HC began 2014 ranked 303 out of 330 Division 1 programs, having won only two games in 2013 and scoring just 5 goals in 18 matches. HC started 2014 9-0-2 with 9 shutouts and just 2 goals allowed. The goals scored / goals allowed ratio was a ridiculous 10.0. HC rose to #2 nationally in goals allowed per game (Stanford was #1 and had not yet conceded a goal). The HC keeper and defense were outstanding and the attack was nicely opportunistic. It was a thrilling run for the kids and fans. In six weeks HC moved up 240 spots in the national rankings (that has to be some sort of record). A HC forward was named national Division 1 women’s soccer player of the week (first and only time ever I believe). HC scored a stunning golden goal on a beautiful counter-attack against Bryant with only 12 seconds left in double overtime (watch it on youtube, HC Beyond the Shield 2014, . The team developed a swagger and the student body got behind the team. Two games against weak Patriot League teams did the season in. HC completely dominated and shut out Loyola in a must-win league opener at home but just could not get the winning goal. A win would have ultimately given HC a playoff spot. Two games later HC switched to 3 defenders against Lafayette in an attempt to create more offense. The switch created 23 shots and 2 goals but also yielded 2 Lafayette goals in regulation. Lafayette scored in the second overtime and stole the match. HC was overmatched in only two games that year – top 25 teams BU and Navy. Both the Colgate and Bucknell games (very strong playoff teams) were evenly played and could have gone either way, ties would have been a fair result, but HC lost both by 2-1 scores. HC finished 10-5-3 and 2-5-2 in league play. A fair season result would have been an amazing 11-2-5 and 4-2-3 and the program would have been up at a new level, but soccer is cruel and yes it wasn’t meant to be.

Our women are at league leading Colgate tonight after losing in disappointing fashion at home against previously winless American last Saturday 4-1 in a real clunker. Only 3 league matches remain and we're tied for the last playoff spot with Lehigh. It's been a long time since this team made any noise in the league race.

We played well last night but lost on a late goal 1-0. Our playoff destiny is still in our control with 2 matches remaining, at Army and home vs. Lehigh.

The HC women beat Army this afternoon, 1-0, in double OT, on a goal by senior Ang Seslija. Their overall record is now 5-11, 3-5 in PL play.
The last time the program won three conference games was 2002. To be filed under "small steps forward."

Finally a 'W' - looks to be our only shot at a league playoff this fall - last match at home vs. Lehigh will probably determine our fate.
