Got the same E-mail. They're pushing early sales I guess. Season tickets are on sale now

We beat Sacred Heart on the road to start last season. The Pioneers graduate about half their minutes and points. I like our chances for a convincing win to start the season.

Got the same e-mail but hoops is always first to post (do you ever sleep?). But, as usual, you are asked to buy your season tickets without having an official home schedule of opponents or even how many games they will be playing. Some highlights to ordering now: "Guarantee your seats to every game at the Hart Center [well, yeah] including when the men's team takes on URI at the DCU Center on December 8th." "Priority access to post-season tickets." [assuming, of course, we have any home games in the PL playoffs and away NCAAs?!!] "Receive 15 percent off all season long at the Holy Cross Team Shop" [is that where I can get my Crusader logo stuff, he said facetiously] "Exclusive FREE season ticket holder reception pre-game at select home game this season and chance to meet head coaches Bill Carmody and Bill Gibbons." [ little chance of meeting Carmody there. One thing he and Ralph have in common, they don't do these events, they might send an assistant.] "Chance to attend a Holy Cross basketball practice and meet the team." [45 does that all the time! ] Despite this, I am sure I will be re-upping soon so I can sit next to Mr. & Mrs. 8485!

I went to that game and Karl really lit it up. Obviously that won''t happen again. That being said, I will be disappointed and grumpy if HC doesn't win this game ------------------------------------------------------------------------- On an unrelated note, if tix are on sale already, the schedule must be pretty well set - or at least a firm number of how many home games there will be.

Despite this, I am sure I will be re-upping soon so I can sit next to Mr. & Mrs. 8485! The honor is all ours, but we’re going to want to see a bit more optimism from you this coming year, otherwise we may dedicate some of our no longer (after December) needed college tuition income allocation to pay the extra to put you back courtside!

I am optimistic about the football team under Bob Chesney!! If you have so much extra cash on hand now, may I suggest that you and the Mrs. take the courtside seats! A truly V.I.P. experience where you get free updated stats throughout the game (no need to thank me, it was my idea) and, as a bonus, you get to meet the players up-close-and-personal as I got to "catch" Matt Husek at least twice as he was falling out of bounds as 45 likes to tease me. Just don't turn your head to talk to someone or you might get hit with an errant pass. As for my implied pessimism, please join me in the Bud Ryan room at the pre-game festivities and see how many times you will see Carmody there. The over/under is zero. Ralph used to say he was too busy preparing for the game and sent his subordinates. I would guess Bill feels the same. I have no issue with that but don't hang that out as a benefit. The operative words are a " chance to meet" the coaches. Since I don't attend the ladies games anymore, while I can't be sure, I'd bet Gibbons would go to these. In reality, I am very optimistic about both the football and basketball teams, not so much the hype for ticket sales.

There's a video associated with the ticket sale. Glimpse of poster HC16 at the 0:26 mark

Just keep Williams and RIC off the schedule.

Nichols coach just took the RIC job. Nichols was much more interesting to watch this past season when compared to HC as they shoot a ton of 3's and have an All-American guard.

Once I realized that the Nichols game was basically doing a favor for their assistant coach RJ Evans, I had no problem with that game on the schedule.

Once I realized that the Nichols game was basically doing a favor for their assistant coach RJ Evans, I had no problem with that game on the schedule. It was never a big deal for most of us, just part of the anti-CMB agenda of the day. Willard scheduled Dowling and Williams - over the course of ten years, no big deal.
The hallowed Fran O'Hanlon, on the other hand, has played 25+ D3s in his tenure at Lafayette

We are where we are and most of us don’t like it.
To change that we need something different: of course we have played these lousy teams in the past but we were good then (and people knew of our existence)
Now we are close to a nonentity. Same old, same old is not an option.
Play big schools wherever and whenever they want.
Do you really think 14-19 the way we are now doing it is better 9-24 to start but getting better each year and actually being on TV and not your laptop?
WE ARE INVISIBLE
There is only one way to change that.

Having had conversations with the former Holy Cross AD, the belief (hope?) was that once we got scholarships back in men's basketball that we would be able to crack the top 25, not the Mid-major top 25, the actual top 25. No one kidded themselves enough to believe we'd be a national champ ever again but making it to the Sweet 16 was thought to be a realistic expectation. Because we had been pretty good w/o schollies for the ladies, implicitly the expectation was at least that high.
And so, there has been great disappointment at where we have come (or not) since schollies. I assume the feeling was that with a free ride to a great school, along with the tradition of Cousy, Heinsohn, et. al. that high value recuits would beat down the doors to play for us (and Ralph at the time).
Ralph left, SK and MB replaced him and schollies (and the PL some will say) came up short.
Now we have the LAC and Carmody. I am less sure than I was a few years ago the CWC is the guy to get us to the promised land. Maybe and probably no one can. Maybe if Ralph had stayed and had the LAC, we would have been the Bucknell and Lehigh of the PL and actually beaten some of the power players in the NCAAs instead of just close losses.
As for BG, wonderful guy but think he should move on. Hard to imagine someone coaching whose record and team's performance regresses after going from non-schollie to schollie.
