Same AAU program that Dingle plays for in the boys wonder if Katie Doherty helped in Cara’s recruitment ?

Is it atypical for a PL school to get a commit this early on the women’s side?

Is it atypical for a PL school to get a commit this early on the women’s side? Don't think so. I think many girls commit early because they are less obsessed with getting the "highest" offer possible and more interested in the school, the fit, and the coach. Bucknell has three commitments in this class thus far, and they came in December, March, and April. Last year's two-woman class saw commitments on May 31st and August 1st. No idea if this is atypical, but it seems like many PL schools get a lot of commitments before August is over.

Either side can back out until next November. Yes, it's like the men's...not worth getting excited over until someone produces a pen and paper.

Brings up a point. Can a high schooler in his/her junior year sign a NLI or must they be seniors?

Having proven herself over the past two high school seasons as one of the more potent scorers on Long Island, 5'6" guard Cara McCormack (St. John the Baptist '20) has gone out on the AAU circuit this summer and showed to be not just a dangerous scoring threat, but a great facilitator and leader as well.
That's why it shouldn't come as a shock that several Division 1 programs showed a great amount of interest in landing McCormack, but it's Holy Cross who has proven to be the winner for her services as she decided last week that even though she could've waited longer to see what else developed for her, when you know you know and McCormack knew in committed to the Patriot League school power.
A near 16 point per game scorer, the development in McCormack's game as a true weapon at the lead guard spot came into focus this past season with St. John the Baptist. Her points per game were down from her freshman season but her assists per game were up nearly 3 a game, proving that she could be a true leader of the game.
One who truly bought into McCormack as someone who could run an offense was her AAU coach in Gregg Flynn. This is his first year coaching her with Lightning-Flynn on the 16u level, but he says it's been obvious to him in a short amount of time the player McCormack can, and will be, for the Crusaders.
"Cara has really developed a point guards mentality and her vision and ability to find her teammates is astounding," Flynn stated. "She is a team first player who can score a lot when she needs to, but she has become a great offensive facilitator and someone who is also one of the best defenders you will see."
Everything Flynn said about McCormack's game was backed up this past week in Washington D.C. as she was named to the USJN National Championships All-Tournament Team, leading her Lightning-Flynn team in most every category.
As to why McCormack chose Holy Cross now instead of deciding to wait, it was all about fit. McCormack loved the academic side of what the Crusaders could offer her, along with giving her the chance to play at a Division 1 level and have a good chance year after year of making the NCAA Tournament. There will be an opportunity for her to come in and make a difference immediately as well which should provide McCormack the chance to help the team win, which is the only she ever thinks about, winning.
McCormack will take her official visit to Holy Cross in September, though she has visited there unofficially once already and loving everything about the Massachusetts school.
It's a great opportunity for McCormack and a great opportunity for Holy Cross to get someone who is among the best overall talents on Long Island into their program. Flynn says he is extremely happy for McCormack and her family with this decision and is confident that the best of her game is still to come as she readies for her junior year of high school still ahead.
"I really think it's a great situation for her. She is such a great scorer once she gets to the rim, her jump shot is very good, her ability to read defenses is great, and she is a great kid to coach so Holy Cross is really getting a good one who should only get even better over the next couple of years," Flynn said.

Isabella "Belle" Kranbuhl is 6'2" and attends Adirondack HS in Boonville, NY. Boonville is between Utica and Watertown, the high school has less than 400 students. The catchment area for CBG's recruiting seems to be getting progressively smaller; i.e., generally within about a four hour drive of the Woo. Cara McCormack's name appears in the USJN list of all-stars,.... of which there are a great many. The tournament had perhaps 70 pools, averaging 7-8 all-stars per pool. So maybe 1 of about 500 all-stars.
