Many of you may well be too young for this one, but I finally found a Holy Cross item tailored for me and for my fellow Class of '67 members. "Never underestimate an OLD MAN who graduated from HOLY CROSS"

I would get one but I'm not old enough.

I'll pass on this t-shirt largely because it could prove that a true "old man" who attended the June 1967 reunion was right after all. While acting as a student assistant for the 1967 reunion, I was seated at a table in the old O'Kane lounge when an old-time graduate with his hair parted down the middle as college students did back in the day came over and angrily demanded to know what we were looking at and informed us that we'd get old someday. After he'd walked off, I told the classmate that I wasn't looking at him and received the response, 'Yeah, but I was."

It was great to hear the stories from the 50 year grads about the "old days" at HC. Of course, our stories about that reunion are now some of the stories from the "old days."

Here's another "old days" reunion story from June 1967 -- a study in contrasts. On Friday afternoon of the reunion, a car pulled up in front of one of the dorms at the top of the hill, and an elderly, infirm man was assisted out of the back seat. One of his equally aged companions then told us that the man getting out of the car was the greatest center the HC football team ever had. At that moment, along came the young, strong, and vigorous center from the '66 team, Dick Grise.
