Yeah I don't get the not updating heights and weights on the roster. Thats something that should be done and is very easy to do...

To me, the ideal time to update heights / weights would be at the start of camp in August. I'm pretty sure that has been done in the past. Of course, that is a busy time, and if it was decided to update them at the end of the school year, that would work as well.
At the spring football game, I mentioned this to one of the assistant coaches. He agreed that it was something that should be done. So, I'm hopeful . . .

9-2. L's at UNH and against HH (hated Harvard). Patriot League Champs. On to the post-season. No predictions on that until I see our opponent.

Should I "lock" the poll now or do we still have some stragglers coming over from "old" Crossports? What say you?

I'd keep it open....still a ways to go before the football season and it seems like traffic at crossports is still pretty slow overall (people still finding the site etc)

Other than what's been said here about Fordham and Colgate, I've no idea how good/bad most of the opponents project to be. Just figuring what Pine is looking for given this point in time and all....a guess of 7 wins ( cleanly done ) minimum and zero bad/sloppy losses....not much wiggle room for Coach Gilmore.

Schedules are only getting tougher from this point on. Expectation this year is to be in the hunt for the PL Championship. A lot of that has to do with how the ball bounces but there is no excuse for us to be a second tier team. More specifically stated, we are competitive in every league game, not all but one or two. All of them.

Is this a "make or break" season for HCTG? I think it is....5 and/or undah W's and he's done, 6-5 may depend on who we beat...7 W's or bettah and he's probably safe for the time being imo.

hc87 writes like another named poster on the old board

How is that not a legitimate query? This thread is about win predictions for the 2016 season....as such, Gilmore's fate is intrinsically entwined
This new board has been unbelievably boring/dead imo....if we can't debate/discuss such issues, what's the point of having this message board ultimately?

Wow ! Sensitive ? I was just saying that your writing style was very similar to someone with a different board name from the former board I was not commenting on the content of your post in fact, I agree with it

No worries....just trying to "jump-start" some non-political talk here....we've got about 5 or 6 weeks before football camp starts. I think this is a very important season for the football program...1st season with a rostah full of scholly players once again, relatively high-profile games at UNH, vs Fordham at YS etc etc. Heading into the next few years with schedules that are trying to reinvigorate the program both on and off the field, I believe another lackluster season would really hinder that effort.

A combined 27-41 record since 2010 with three losing seasons. Yes, a very important season with a very good senior class returning. Hoping to build off of the strong finish to last season.
Missed ya, ihoop / hc87!

A few tidbits on the schedule...
Times of games have not been posted yet on the HC site, but in perusing our opponent's pages, we have:
@ Morgan State 2PM -- HC grad Lee Hull was their coach from 2015-16, but is now the WR coach for the Colts @ UNH 7PM -- they play at San Diego State the weekend prior @ Albany TBA -- I doubt the game will be as one-sided this season... vs. Dartmouth TBA -- this is Homecoming, so figure a noon start like last season? Personally, I think a 2PM start would be best, but seem to recall TV dictated last year's kickoff @ Lafayette 3:30PM -- this is Lafayette's Homecoming vs. Bucknell 1:00PM -- Bucknell has this game as a 1PM kickoff vs. Harvard TBA -- Probably a 1PM kickoff...the last time we played Harvard at home was a particularly tough defeat in 3OT vs. Lehigh TBA -- Lehigh will likely be one of the favorites to win the PLC @ Colgate TBA -- this is Colgate's family weekend. The Raiders probably have the top OOC schedule in the PL, as their first three games are at Syracuse, Yale, and Richmond. @ Georgetown TBA -- Should be an easy win, right? vs. Fordham at Yankee Stadium -- Has a time been set for this yet? If HC has the season we all hope it does, this game could determine whether we win the PLC and/or reach the FCS Playoffs
A pretty weird schedule as we're away from Fitton for the first three and final three games of the regular season, with four of five at home in the middle of it.

Wheeew-wheew! Dartmouth is Homecoming this year? It was 50 years ago, in 1966 that we had the big upset against Dartmouth (longest winning streak in the country) in the pouring rain Homecoming game. See other thread. Let's do it again!!

Re: Morgan State-- while Lee Hull has moved to a new job, HC grad Fred Farrier remains on the staff and is the interim head coach. See below his bio from the Morgan State website. I believe Free and Lee were teammates at HC Fred Farrier
Interim Head Coach/Offensive Coordinator
Phone: 4815 Email: frederick.farrier@morgan.edu Fred Farrier enters his first season Morgan State's interim head football coach. His appointment to the position in February came as a result of former head coach Lee Hull accepting an assistant coaching job with the NFL's Indianapolis Colts. Farrier had been on the Bears' staff since Lee Hull arrived in 2014. He was the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach. He oversaw the development of quarterbacks Moses Skillon, who was the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference's No. 5 leading passer in 2015, and Seth Higgins who also saw action in five games through the 2015 season. MSU recently signed 15 recruits on national signing day and the Bears are coming off a 4-6 season and was tied for 4th place in the MEAC. Under Farrier's watch, Skillon completed 50.5 percent of his passes for 1,616 yards and 7 touchdowns and rushed for 420 yards and five scores in 2015. In 2014, Skillon passed for 1,392 and 11 touchdowns and led the Bears to its first MEAC championship in 35 years and its first ever FCS playoff appearance. This past season, Higgins stepped in and rushed for 284 yards and a score while passing for 284 yards and a pair of TDs. Farrier, a 16-year veteran of college football coaching ranks, has helped shape Morgan State's offense into one of the best in the MEAC. The Bears ranked No. 4 in passing offense (190.0 yards per game), No. 5 in rushing offense (139.2 yards per game) and No. 5 in the MEAC total offense (392.2 yards per game) in 2015. In 2014, the Bears ranked No. 2 in the MEAC in scoring offense (27.8 points per game), No. 2 in rushing (208.5 yards per game), No. 3 in total offense (378.8 yards per game) and No. 5 in pass offense (170.2 yards per game). A native of Cleveland Heights, Ohio, Farrier joined the Bears after spending a pair of seasons as the passing game coordinator at RPI (Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute). Farrier served four seasons as the head coach of Kentucky State (2005-09), where he coached the Thoroughbreds to an average of over 30 points and 375 yards per game. Prior to that, he was the associate head coach and offensive coordinator at Shaw University in 2004, where he led the Bears to a CIAA championship and Pioneer Bowl. Farrier also served as the wide receivers coach and recruiting coordinator at Tennessee Tech from 2001-03. Farrier broke into coaching at Michigan State University where he served two seasons (1998-99) as a graduate assistant coach under head coach Nick Saban, now head coach of the Alabama Crimson Tide. Farrier was an all-conference athlete in football and basketball during his prep career at Cleveland Heights High School, and played wide receiver at the College of the Holy Cross. Farrier also played basketball for two seasons and received his bachelor's degree in economics and accounting in 1994, and earned his master's degree from Tennessee Tech in 2004. Farrier, 43, and his wife, Danita, have a son, Fred II, and daughter, India.

OK, so Peter spent time with the Manning clan and many of the players are up in Worcester getting themselves ready for the coming season. I intend to lock this poll no later than the end of next week as this was intended as a long range prediction poll not a last minute (talkin' to you, 45 ) under the wire; test which way the wind is blowing kind of thing; while fully recognizing this is more of a "gut" poll than analytical one. So, if you haven't voted yet, time to do so. Of course, since it is anonymous, at the end of the season, everyone can say that the results were exactly how they predicted.
