Could the extension be based on the fact that he brings in quality young men who don’t get in trouble and graduate on time? W’s and L’s not as important at this level as say a big Time D1 school. We know for the most part at the big time schools it’s all about results on the field of play and they have huge donors with a major impact on coaches. At a school like Holy Cross it’s all about academics first which most would argue is the way it’s supposed to be.

If we’re moving to Hockey East as many seem to think we are, then we’d be entering the “big time” at least as relates to hockey. Given the financial investment that will entail, I certainly hope we’re going to give winning our best shot.

Academics and having a winning program aren’t mutually exclusive. It’s a total myth you can’t have both.

Let’s be honest if winning was that important at Holy Cross would you have extended the coach?

oh my goodness Snowflakes on Crossports. Yes, they're everywhere...Can't take a joke, don't know when someone is being sarcastic...but they're the first ones that want to suppress your rights.

No doubt about it. Did you know we had a thread that went on for about twenty pages because some posters did not want a professor to write about theology from a perspective with which they disagreed?

As John McLaughlin used to say: "WRONG!!!" We have not had a theology course for decades . . . . . it is "religious studies" . . . . . and you can look it up.
He may have been at a theological seminary but he was obviously writing about religion.

Bullying is no joke. A true sign of disrespect. Look at the fate of Neidermeyer. Happened more than once in “Nam”. Seems the very tired retort and bromide is to call someone a snowflake. I would suggest a moratorium and refrain from name calling our fellow crossporters pejorative terms. www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=name%20calling

Citing a satirical movie and a dim-witted/provocative movie character and comparing my words (sarcastic) to his traits in the movie is only hammering home the tone that I posted in. It was meant to be sarcastic to a degree, but comment more on the actions of the athletic department. If I knew there would be this much outrage, I would not have posted-- not apologizing for the words themselves-- but for what it may be leading our fellow posters to say about one another.
Glad to refrain from any name calling, snowflaking, etc.

Bump Interesting discussion about the wisdom of the extension in October. Wonder what the faithful think now with the ‘18-‘19 season finished.

We have an impactful mentor, a strong motivator and a tremendous resource for another three seasons. Too funny. “Steady progress” = 0-8 in the Atlantic Hockey playoffs the last 4 years. Pine was a total fraud.
