If this is accurate, looks like the guys will have 2 closed scrimmages at home: UMass Lowell on 10/20, and Fairfield on 10/27:
So, no D2-3 game (can't remember the last time this took place).

Been at least 12 years since we didn't play an exhibition against D2/3 team. We've probably played Assumption 10 straight years now. We played UMass-Lowell and RIC in exhibitions in 2007 and St. Francis Xavier from Nova Scotia and Salem State in 2006.
In years where two D2 or D3 exhibitions were played, would we have not been allowed to play a DI scrimmage?

Just for laughs, I looked at last season's news releases. The Assumption exhibition was announced with the full season schedule press release in mid-August. Based on that, I think it's reasonable to assume there will be no exhibition this year.
In kind of a cool maneuver, the current string of exhibitions with Assumption started when Assumption got freshman Tim Beinert and there was a brother connection between the two schools

Even more recent history, we stole their football coach.😊

True enough on these connections, however, IIRC the first pre-season scrimmage with Assumption was Tim Beinert's freshmen year. I was pleased that the "series" survived past Andrew's graduation and am sorry that it is being dropped this year.
Unlike some former posters, being sorry that there is no Assumption exhibition this year does NOT mean I want them on the regular season schedule

Thanks to Assumption for the scrimmages. Time to move on. Fairfield would be a good scrimmage (ana a chance for us to see a preview of what HC has this year if it is streamed?).

Thanks, Tom. I thought we got to see some video of Assumption last year...but I am probably "misremembering" it. Getting older is tough (73 today) but it does beat the alternative!

Happy birthday, Rob. The distinction is that we've been playing exhibition games vs. Assumption which are open to spectators. Scrimmages are not . . . . . unless you sneak in as I did to the fieldhouse to watch Army (under Knight) vs. HC. Can't really say I snuck in, just walked in and no one stopped us.

There seems to be some confusion here between scrimmages and exhibition games. Under NCAA rules, schools can play up to two preseason events. They can be closed scrimmages against other D1 opponents or open exhibition games against non D1 opponents. Many schools choose to do one of each.

NAD has grabbed McCaffery's janitor uniform off of E-Bay and has plans to use it and break into the AD's office room and pretend to clean it while watching the scrimmages through the new windows. I trust he will report albeit under a pseudonym so no one will know who broke into the AD's office. Other than that, all we will know is rumor Note to Dean Wormer - please disregard the portion of this post where I say someone will be posting under multiple usernames

Thanks to all of you who send good wishes for my birthday! Thanks too for the reminder about the difference between scrimmages and exhibition games. I regret nit being able to see the team play against Assumption. It just make the appearance in the first regular season ooc game that much more exciting!

I don't know about next year, but this year is different from last year. Last year they allowed a third charity exhibition in addition to the two normal ones after the catastrophic hurricanes hit. . This year only two are sallowed, one of which can be open to the public if it is for charity. Or if it is against a D2/D3. Few teams have opted for the charity event, presumably because the coaches prefer closed scrimmages where they can work on different situations and where they feel no pressure to try to win.

Any public comments on social media by players or coaches?

If the players are deliberately keeping this off social media (and "under wraps") that is impressive and speaks to their focus IMHO.

Jon Rothstein tweets a lot about secret scimmages, but haven't seen anything about HC. Apparently Colgate lost to Dartmouth, and Army lost to Bryant. He also reported Harvard lost to BC by 1 without Aiken and Towns.
