Received word yesterday that HoFer Jim Marcellino '65 died Thursday evening. Jim had been in ill health for a period of time. Jim was the O'Melia Award winner in 1963 when Holy Cross upset BC, 9-0 on a bitterly cold Thanksgiving weekend Saturday at Fitton Field. In the era of two-way football, Jim played both ways as a halfback and led HC in most offensive categories in 1963 and 1964. He also was a lacrosse letterwinner and came from an HC family (his father and brother Bill also played football).
May he rest in peace.

Remember him well. He played great in that win over BC. Jon Morris was dominant on D in that frigid game shadowing Concannon the entire game. Requiescat in pace.

May he rest in peace. I seem to remember that both he and his brother were invited to the NY Giants camp the summer of their senior years. Do I remember that correctly?

I liked reading The Heights. Couple of things I saw: 1. HC lost to BC in wrestling. When was the last time either school had a wrestling program? 2. I would imagine this was more or less the norm: BC's basketball schedule had 22 games. It was Bob Cousy's first year as coach. 3. My memory of that game was off: thought HC scored all it's points in the first half. Turns out they didn't score the td until the fourth quarter. So for nearly 4 quarters it was 2-0, which is a score you didn't see after 1940, never mind 1963. Also noticed BC got to the HC 2 in the second quarter and manged not to score, but no details given on that (missed fg, turnover, sack, penalty).

Thoughts and prayers to his family and friends. Have always heard he was a tremendous player.
As for BC/The Heights....love looking at these old papers....not sure about wrestling, nearly certain there wasn't a team when I was there in the 80s. BC's hoop sked was interesting....pretty good overall, but at Colby? Imagine that today?

IRC Billy M et al football players wrestling in the class olympics

It would appear the only flaw in this wonderful person was his connection to Boston College. I hope he does not have to spend much time in purgatory for that offense. R.I.P. to a great alum.
