Providence taking on FDU tonight. Score is tied 10-10 after 11 minutes. FDU looks strong and quick, but cold from 15' and out. PC started their 3 frosh.

Friars now up 16-12 at the 10 minute mark. Announcers saying FDU is well coached (by Hereda). This may be a closer game for HC than some expected.
Now 18-12...PC pulling away.

Sa'eed Nelson with 26 (8 of 13 FG, 3-6 3-pointers, 7-9 FT). Sam Iorio double-double (18 points, 14 rebounds). Now 4-1, first three-game win streak in more than two years, leapfrogs Colgate on KenPom, up to 172, third among PL teams behind Lehigh, HC.

I think Iorio is very good, among the best players in the conference.
American, as many here have suggested, is a vastly improved team--at least through this early part of the season. Per KenPom, the defense has gone from #310 LY to #129 TY.

I watched most of the second half. IMO from the little sample size I have seen Bucknell is like the other good teams in the Patriot League. They play hard and don't give up, but make foolish mistakes and the shooting tends to be streaky with some shots that have you scratching your head. I would say the same about HC. Bucknell did not have a friendly whistle from the refs, but that is typical when any Patriot League team plays the big programs.
Ohio State was down at halftime and got to a double digit lead late in the second half. Ohio State thought the game was over when Bucknell hit two big 3 pointers and all of sudden it got to a one possession lead. Ohio State mishandled a ball and there was a scrum for the ball and a Bucknell player recovered the ball and quickly called time out. Bucknell was down by 2 and they wisely (IMO) decided that this was their best chance to win since Sestina had fouled out and a 3 pointer would win the game. They knew they probably could not win in OT if they decided to go for a 2 pointer and a tie.
Bucknell in-bounded the ball and Ohio State stepped up and smothered Bucknell defensively. Bucknell had plenty of time to get a shot off, but didn't want to leave Ohio State any time to possibly come back. The last second shot from the Bucknell player really had no chance to go in. I think the announcers said the player who took the shot had never attempted a 3 pointer before.

I think the announcers said the player who took the shot had never attempted a 3 pointer before. The player who took the first three, a forced shot with the clock running down and a defender draped all over him, was Bruce Moore. He has attempted 123 threes for Bucknell in his career and is now 9-18 this year. Sotos actually got the rebound and had another "shot" at the buzzer but it wasn't really a shot, as he grabbed the ball going away from the basket and just flung it up at the buzzer.

But Moore’s shot was defended well by OSU.

But Moore’s shot was defended well by OSU. Yes. At least partly because he wasn't supposed to get the ball and wasn't in any position to do anything with it when he got it. Sotos should have passed to Toomer on his right, who had space to create a good jump shot attempt off the dribble.

One thing you can be sure of when PL plays P-5 teams the bigs will be in foul trouble and play limited minutes.

Sestina’s 5th foul was totally on him

i didn't even see the game wasn't referencing any individual foul just noting that in general PL bigs get in foul trouble against the top competition.

Interesting to note that at 19.5 points/ 5 rebounds/ 3 assists our old friend Andrew Kostecka is the PL leading scorer and two time POW. I remember last year some on this board thought he wasn't much of a player and would have a hard time getting minutes at HC. Maybe the coach should have spent a little time trying to keep him rather than chasing the dynamic duo of Cohen and Stevens.
