the plural of datum in data just as media is plural and medium is singular

That's because not enough people took Latin in school. Stadium - stadia. So, for my classmate, should we now discuss less vs. fewer? OK, since we are talking about the Iona game, what's in a name?

A couple of random thoughts for no other reason than to derail the linguistics tangent that I contributed to
- Iona is more likable since they got rid of McNasty (aka Jeff Ruland) as head coach
- In a spiteful way, I am kind of amused that the kid who walked away from his HC commitment also walked away from his Iona commitment, but seems to be doing well at the third school he committed to

Cluess is not a high class person. He has taken many questionable of character transfers, inc a thug thrown out of Syracuse. Nothing likable for me.

Yes, there are few teams with more players of questionable character. For example, heir top returning player, Roland Griffin, punched out one of their coaches and put him in the hospital during preseason. Cluess probably wanted a slap on the wrist, but Griffin ended up being tossed from the team. Prior to his time at Iona, Griffin had played at Illinois State - where he earned an indefinite suspension for violating team rules and then left the team - and then at a Texas juco. Iona currently has at least six transfers, plus two direct from Serbia. Key reserve Ben Perez had an unusual path to New Rochelle. Played HS ball in California. Then a prep year at USAFPS in Colorado, then a year at San Diego State, then a year at South Plains Juco in Texas. Now a year, or more at Iona.

Sounds like another take-care-of-business game.
I can think of only a couple people who could pull of using the word datum, and they both have the gift of blarney;)

Sounds like another take-care-of-business game. Should be, but the stark contrast in preferred pace of play makes things a bit dicey. Iona is a team that likes to get up and down (77+ possessions per game, 23rd highest in D1), while HC is the epitome of deliberate (66.5 possessions per, 351st).

It's Iona's first home game in almost 2 months; I'll bet they'll be all juiced up to start. We certainly don't want our guys to come out flat, but they can't get involved in a track meet either. If they can stay true to what they do, they should have a good shot at bringing home the W.

Interesting challenge--but Army has typically played at a very fast pace and we have managed to do well against that team over the years.

Obviously Iona does not have the talent of previous years, but they probably have far superior athletes to those at Army.

Any suggestions on where HC fans might be seated? Trying to chose a seat. If no suggestions, I think I'll just wear my purple shirt with CRUSADERS across the back and take my chances.

Can't speak for Iona and the crowd but most away games are sparsely attended and Crusader fans tend to go to the empty seats at or near behind the HC bench. Be sure to join HC92's kids in the "you, you, you . . . . ON YOU!" and "Dee-Fense" chants as I don't think NAD will be there to lead!

We have to win this game in order to even the series as the Gaels are up on us 16 wins to 15. I must have blocked last year's game out of my mind as it shows we lost 82-68 at the Hart Center when Iona hit 54.1% of its 3 point shots and broke the Hart Center record with 20 made 3-pointers. They had 5 players make 3 or more 3's. Holy Mackeral. Let's hope there is not a repeat in New Rochelle!

HC -2.5 After winning/covering in 8 of the first nine games, HC is no longer flying under the radar! HC has been favored the last 3, and not covered any of them.

Do the long layoffs hurt teams like ours that rely on timing (passing and cutting) and shooting ?
