The voters have been more impressed by scoring than defense. ridiculous that his block to clinch the Canisius win was not even mentioned.

Jehyve averages 3.83 assists per game while averaging 28.2 minutes. He is second on the team in total assists to Caleb Green who is averaging 4.0 assists while playing 36.9 minutes.

Unfortunately the old saying offense sells tickets defense wins championships still holds true. Floyd will have to average 13-14 points along with his stellar defense to be seriously considered for these awards, single digit scoring no matter how good the other numbers are will not be rewarded.

His ppg is slowly climbing....I'll bet it's in double figures before long.

True enough, and shooting 36% from the line doesn't help him either. But his ORtg is significantly higher than last year and his DRtg is better, too. On the PL leader board, Jehyve is 1st in defensive box plus/minus (by a huge margin), 1st in blocks, 5th in efficiency rating, 7th in assists. He's cut his turnovers in half, his fouls by a third, and is arguably more valuable to this team now than he was last year.

Last year, Floyd averaged 6.8 FGA in the OOC, then about 9 FGA in conference. This season, he's getting just 6.3 shots per game - would hope that Carmody can find ways to get him the ball more often once PL play starts.

The URI game significantly hurt that FGA average with 0 attempts in. 6 mins.

With his unique combo of blocks and assists, as well as a high FG% and respectable rebound numbers, he should be a favorite for PoY, but as was mentioned, unless he gets his ppg up, he probably will not receive the honor he deserves. (Reminds me of the Jacob deGrom talk that some said he should not win the Cy Young award since he was a .500 pitcher with few wins, regardless of his exceptional ERA, high Strike outs and low WHIP. Doubt that the PL voters will be as enlightened as the Cy Young voting writers)

There are only ten voters for PL POY, I.e. the league's ten head coaches. I think collectively they are better qualified to determine the winner than any other group of voters would be. They will have watched hundreds of hours of film and had to game-plan each PL team twice prior to voting.

Perhaps they will choose more wisely than the voters for PoW.
