Going off on a bit of a tangent, but the use of a cross as a helmet decal is rare. Tennessee did in 1965 to honor three coaches who had died in a car crash. Arkansas State did much more recently to honor two individuals associated with the program. The counsel for Arkansas State had them removed, --matter of separation of church and state and a public university www.uni-watch.com/2014/09/18/tennessee-wore-a-black-helmet-cross-in-1965/Otherwise, memorial decals and patches seem to avoid religious symbols. ^^^Virginia Tech symbol and patch, on all uniforms.

We had exactly the same thought. I just chose not to post it because it might start a religious back and forth. Put me in the camp that "likes" this symbol on our team's helmets (as long as we don't have to put a star of David and a crescent on the other side! )

Remember, some feel that HC has become a seminary. "Some" means more than one......... Indeed it does, KY. I was aware of that when I chose the word. IIRC, there were 2 or 3 folks with posts along that line a while back.

If you don't think there are many who think as I do you are living in a bubble.

1962 called and wants you back. Ask ANY current HC student if the place feels like a Seminary and they would laugh at you.

Then they're living in a bubble as well, a very paternalistic bubble.....as is this Board.

Now, KY, I am sure he meant to PM you because 94 was obviously referring to you but thrown off because "Must be nice to be smarter than everyone else you come in contact with. " is actually not a question but a declarative statement and didn't think you needed to respond to him. If 94 meant someone else, it might be construed as sarcasm and many of us on the board just don't get that. We only get gross hyperbole (I know, that's redundant) as a literary device.

I apologize for the confusion. My issue is clearly with Sarasota and his (continued) out of touch impression of what our alma mater is.

hcgrad94- My impression of HC is not "out of touch." Mine is different from yours (and others here) only because I come at it from a perspective different from yours, a perspective arrived at based on my life history and my intellectual history and my religious history. A significant piece of my history is that I voluntarily left the study of Medicine in order to study Philosophy on the graduate level and taught college Philosophy full-time for seven years. So I take these kinds of matters very seriously, have studied them extensively and defend my conclusions with confidence.

For the record, I for one knew exactly what 94 and KY meant and as RGS said, all in good fun.

Okay great I have a fancy Advanced degree as well, but you are trying to apply theories and perceptions to a situation where they just don't fit. You clearly have some long-held beliefs and issues with Catholic institutions, but again they just don't apply in this case. As someone who has spent regular time on campus over last 15 years and has numerous family members that have graduated in the last five I know this to be true.

I am sure this actual evidence won't sway your theoretical beliefs you polish from 1000 miles away, so too bad for you.

As a Rationalist I am always open to being proven wrong. I don't believe one needs to be on campus. The multitude of stuff I see on the Internet as well as what I get in the mail gives a good impression.

Fascinating as version 10.723 of this discussion is ... I think they are receivers gloves. That was my first thought as well. But, it is hard to tell for sure from the picture. From that, they appear to be a bit too thick and stiff from that photo. Has anyone on our board actually seen or touched them?

We've had posters weigh in with confidence on both sides (receiver/not receiver) of this vexing matter. To me they do not look to have the same form as the gloves Kalif is wearing for the Broncos in latest linked photo.......
