I stumbled upon some old pictures of Holy Cross and thought it may be fun to start a thread about old uniform styles. 1. Is there a specific uniform combination or style that you wish would be brought back? If so, please feel free to share pictures Also, if members of the board have pictures of early Holy Cross uniforms (pants, helmets, shoulder pads, etc) would love to see them (especially from 1900-1940) Personally, I really love the old, "friction" uniforms from the 1930s that were made in hopes of helping ball carriers secure the football. (That's not a personal dig at last year's team), I just think they could be repurposed in a really neat way for the modern era. This time of the year without college football is always a tough. The Duffner era uni's are the best I've seen.

Very retro! It would be pretty neat to create a whole "Knight armor suit" as a modern uniform. The PC Police would go nuts

The Helmet Project says this was 1979-1980:

My football classmates, however, liked the ones they had with an interlocking HC.

Supposedly 1999 (I don't recall): Just having fun. These are not coming back in my lifetime . . . . but when I am gone, a few people are going to be haunted by me. Yes - i loved those. DA gave us these, which graces my bookshelf at work. Attachments:

The Duffner era uni's are the best I've seen. The shirts have to be of a tuck-in length now (the midriff type shirts got outlawed at some point); but other than that modification, I agree with you 100%. Also, did the purple at some point along the way get darker or am I just imagining that? Anyone catch any of the women's game this week vs Army when they wore the gray? Numbers were invisible, at least on TV. The base color and the trim color of the numbers should have been reversed.

Yes. I agree. Numbers ca be hard to distinguish the way HC has them on gray uniforms.

This is easy.
What uniforms did we wear during the three years where we were 33-3?
WEAR THOSE
And stop the foolishness of new unis every week. It's silly.
Go the Penn State/ Alabama/ USC route; same uniforms every week, year, decade.

Please just no knight with the sword and horse, as that makes some very uncomfortable.

Fortunately there were no knights, horses, iggys, etc. on the 60-5-1 Duffner unis!

I love Harry Flaherty in the background. Guy was an absolute animal.

Definitely early 80s uniforms....neck rolls included!

Carter's unis were a wee bit different, white pants, sleeve stripes versus silver pants and no stripe...but definitely a contendah ! Knockoffs of the NY Jets unis of that era, which I liked because the green was more to my taste than the older-now-current ones. I also favor numbers on the shoulders versus the HC ..and especially numbers like in the photo, which one can really see.

At least none of us chose the Ed Doherty (not that he was necessarily to blame) unis that looked like they came from Charlie's Surplus, especially the road ones.

I vote for the Duffner era uniforms.
Biggest issue I have with our current ones is the lack of stripe on the pants. IMO it finishes off the uni and makes them look more sleek.
