Softball also opens its schedule today down south in the St. Pete, Fl.area for 5 games this weekend - split 2 today, losing to Quinnipiac 5--2 and beating Drexel 6-0. There are 4 excellent frosh recruits and three start in the field and the other pitched the shutout on game 2. This team looks to be significantly improved after last season's 12-33 (5-13 PL) record

27 K in 16 innings!!! Congrats to Katie!
My daughter plays competitive softball, and I'm continuously amazed how strong these pitchers are and how many innings they can go. One weekend we had some injuries and our pitcher pitched all 6 games!
Too bad they let game 2 slip by.

So bunting isn't that bad...winning run was a home run bunt

I guess we should have her first name correct - it's 'Kelly' Nelson - there's another frosh Erin Bengston who was on some HS All American teams and she has caught every game so far and is our 3rd leading hitter (softball gets Title IX money and our baseball program lives without aid, as we know)

Kelly Nelson named Pitcher of the Week and Rookie of the Week
Is there any position in any team sport more important that softball pitcher?

One good softball pitcher can mean a title and a strong winning record in high school and even in college.

Kelly Nelson named Pitcher of the Week and Rookie of the Week Is there any position in any team sport more important that softball pitcher? I don’t think so...you can win with an average QB or average goalie with a good offense. In softball, if your pitcher is unhittable, evenetually the other team will crack on defense

Why isn’t the wearing of caps mandatory?

Oscar Gamble wore a cap when playing baseball. Did not seem to be an issue. 🤔

Record now 2-15 after losing all four games at St. John’s tournament outscored 29-7 over the weekend as all of our pitchers were roughed up. Could be another long season

More tough results after getting swept at BU (more schollie $ in their program) - overall we're 3-22 (1-5 in PL) .176 team batting average makes it hard to score runs and win ball games.

Too soon to call the Turnpike Trophy for BU this year?

BU has 33,000 students, HC has about 3,000. They have eleven times as much tuition and fees to support Athletics. We have two NCAA and one NIT national championship 65-70 years ago. We keep matching our proud heritage against our competitors' higher funding. It isn't working but that's no reason to change.

Now 5-42 all time vs. Harvard - just amazing how these ‘so-called’ D.1 programs were ignored for so long

I'm starting to think D-1 participation is code for losing.

Do we really have less scholarship $$ relative to other PL schools for softball? The NCAA max is 12 softball scholarships per team; is this not what we provide? Either way, we need another top pitcher, and we need to find some bats...
