I'm not 100% sure both Sale and Considine are on full scholarships. Both were walk ons. So even if they get 1 year free it's better than nothing. It's not like Sale's resume is unbelievably impressive playing QB for a 1-10 Tennessee Tech team. I would argue in both cases they are selling themselves just as much as HC is selling them. Neither really has played in a game in a year so I'm not sure HC is willing to take that large of a financial gamble on an unknown.
Do I think some scholarship money is going their way - yes; do I think it's 100% full ride - IMO probably not.
Nonetheless, I agree with the point that competition makes everyone better and a thin position now certainly has an interesting QB battle that starts in about 40 days.

With respect to Sale, the WaPo stats for Tennessee Tech are for 2017. The stats suggest he played a lot of minutes. So where was he during 2018? Did he transfer to LSU, and then sit out 2018 as a walk-on?
If he was a freshman at Tenn Tech in 2017, and played in eight games with over 200 passing attempts, that suggests he was a starter, or damn near a starter for much of the season. Did he always dream of playing for LSU, and transfer on the basis of his freshman stats? ______________________ I am skeptical that Chesney had two full scollies in his back pocket waiting for transfers to walk up College Hill.

HC requires a minimum of two years of attendance to receive a degree, so I doubt he would be coming for just one year of football.

He was 3rd string LSU last year (2018) I believe. Received a waiver to be eligible. He is originally from Baton Rouge.

Andre Sale 2016= Freshman at Tennessee Tech-saw no action and was red shirted 2017= Red Shirt freshman at Tenn Tech. Started the first 7 games but then lost his starting job to Luke Ward 2018= Sophomore at LSU--did not see any action. Seems logical to conclude that he transferred to LSU because he grew up in Baton Rouge as LSU fanatic and because his sister and both parents went there 2019= Junior year at ?---- perhaps Holy Cross

“2018 LSU did not see any action” Wasn’t that because he had to sit that year as.an FBS transfer to another FBS school ?

Under NCAA rules, does one have to withdraw from a school before you 'try out' at another school? And he wasn't listed on the portal, was he? Third string at LSU is pretty good. I would think even a third string at LSU would get a lot of mentoring. Tenn Tech has same colors as LSU. Looked at their 2018 roster, and seemed like a lot of QBs, but the full roster lists 100 players. New head coach at Tenn Tech last year; a coach with deep TN roots and seems to make no bones about it.

Will we become a pro style offense ? Apparantly neither Considine or Sale liked to run the ball but at least Sale showed roll-out and passing on the run.

Tennessee Tech, if the stats are indicative, had a pretty porous defense that contributed significantly to the 1-10 season.

Tennessee Tech, if the stats are indicative, had a pretty porous defense that contributed significantly to the 1-10 season. IIRC, the Jacksonville State game was the only game where, from the score, Tenn Tech did not look competitive. Jacksonville State beat Liberty by a similar margin. Looking at the bos score on Hacksonville State site, weather was good. Jacksonville State simply dominated.

Wow...every QB looks like Slingin' Sammy Baugh in these videos but I love the poise and arm strength shown here The mention of Slingin' Sammy Baugh made me wonder if he had ever faced Chuckin' Charlie O'Rourke on the gridiron. The answer is yes in the 1942 NFL Championship game when Sammy slung it for the Bears and Charlie chucked it for the Redskins. Bullet Bill Osmanski had already left the Bears for WW II military service. Where have all the good nicknames gone?

Yes in the championship game O'Rourke "spelled Sid Luckman" and actually had a higher completion percentage than Luckman.
