Faw is 6'9" and athletic for his size. There is a ton of potential there if he is motivated and the coaches can bring it out of him. We will also have Niego back. If he is motivated? Explain a little more? I shouldn't have said "if he is motivated" about a student athelete. That does seem like a comment on somebody's character and I didn't mean it that way. What I was thinking about was an evaluation I heard Providence College radio color guy Joey Hasset make about the skills of former Crusader Eric O. during an HC-PC game a few years ago I was listening to on flamethrower 103.7 FM, the PC station at the time rather than whatever penlight station HC was on at the time which I couldn't hear after dark. Hasset raved about the leaping ability of EO and his inside skills and said with his ability he could play in the Big East. As I followed the team it seemed that Dave D surpassed Eric O. At a Pre-season coaches night after both had graduated I asked CMB about that as I was curious because I found Joey Hasset as generally insightful in his analysis. CMB, with no hint of criticism of anyone, explained that Dave D. had a tremendous rare internal drive and motivation to improve that you can not expect or necessarily coach in all players and that contributed to his success - or words to that effect. Eric O was a solid performer who led HC in rebounds for two years. CMB had no criticism of any player obviously when he answered my question. Milan is a class act. So, that's what I was thinking but I shouldn't have even mentioned motivation because it's not fair and it's a subjective intangible element I have no way of measuring. My sense is all HC players are motivated and will work to improve and the coaching staff will work hard, too.

Thanks. I just wanted to make sure I wasn’t misinterpreting so much appreciate. Totally get your point. That said, it would indeed be disappointing if a player was was not motivated despite getting a free ride at HC while other families struggle to pay tuition plus room and board.

EO was blessed with a tremendous wingspan.

I always wondered why EO did not get more playing time--heck of a rebounder and our best shot blocker-obviously offensive skills not as well developed
Blocked Shots Per 40 Minutes
3.2= Eric Obeyesekere 3.0= Jehyve Floyd 2.9= Josh Sankes 2.9= Tim Clifford 2.4= Nate Lufkin

EO also had 11+ rebounds per 40 each of his last three seasons. Whearty and Keister were the only other players in at least the last 25 years who averaged double digit boards/40.in three different years.

Plus, EO had that nice pull-up jumper from just outside the paint. Non-defendable.

My sense is all HC players are motivated and will work to improve and the coaching staff will work hard, too. Some guys are motivated and work hard. Some guys are borderline psycho in their work ethic. I'm sure most of the 80's era Celtics were motivated and worked hard, but Larry Bird was the first one in the gym and the last one to leave every day
