Spring sports look like they are off to a great start! Baseball (4-19), Softball (3-17), MLAX (3-5), WLAX (3-6) have combined for a tremendous 13-47 (.217), including 3-7 (.300) in the PL! Not sure why we should ever even get around to that pesky search for a new AD with how great everything is going! ----- Edit: I just read that AIC (Apply In Crayon) won the Atlantic Hockey Championship. So that means we have now been lapped by AIC in hockey to go along with getting lapped by Colgate in MBB. Absolutely tremendous! But let's keep griping and saying that baseball, playing in Worcester in March and April, where the weather is akin to most locales' Decembers, is a sport we should pour more money and attention into relative to basketball and hockey. Hey!!! That's my territory fella.....

HC should be basketball, football, hockey. If I had to rank them, maybe basketball 1, and then football 2a, and hockey 2b.

How many team sports have finished with an above .500 record since Pine took over as AD? Bring Back?

Our D-1 participation level remains high (our athletic goal) so there really should not be any grousing. Instead of looking W-L, look at number of teams and strength (numerically) of rosters.

Baseball is the last HC team that participated in the NCAA tournament and won a game against Nebraska. June 3, 2017. How soon they forget. 🤔

How soon they forget. 🤔 In deference to your point, you'd have to know in order to forget. But I think that just goes to show that on the totem pole of NCAA athletics and the (being serious for 3 minutes) national consciousness, the baseball tournament is probably below football both FBS and FCS, below men's and women's basketball, below hockey, below wrestling, below lacrosse, and maybe even lower than gymnastics. In the scheme of the northeast, where we are focused for better or worse, NCAA baseball is probably lower in the mindset of folks than reruns of Murder She Wrote (I told you, only for 3 minutes).

Since Pine's first full academic year on campus (2014-15), there have been 5 teams who finished a season with a winning record -- the 5th was the WBB program this year who currently has a head coach on an indefinite suspension. That is total of 5 is up against 56 total seasons completed by the 12 primary D1 teams. HOF Dave Bedard's Men's Hockey team in 2015-16 was the only team coached by someone who Pine hired to finish a season with a winning record. youtu.be/7R1nRxcICeE

I agree that college baseball ranks below both levels of D-I college football and also college basketball. I think I'd stop there. College baseball is below hockey in the north, but certainly not in the south where hockey is almost non-existent. I think that college baseball still ranks way ahead of any olympic sport. Half the ESPN audience doesn't know the rules of lacrosse. Wrestling conjures visions of WWE to a lot of fans who don't appreciate the real sport. Your point is taken that most people don't care about anything but football and basketball, but the College World Series does get some decent TV viewership --------------------------------- Nothing wrong with a Murder She Wrote re-run. Better written show than most whodunnit's today. Although, as much as people talk about the high number of killings in Chicago, on a per capita basis, no city/town comes close to Cabot Cove, Maine

Baseball is one of five NCAA championships that actually makes money, FWIW.

Although the season was less than stellar (24-29) we won the PL to receive the entry and went 1-2 in the first round of the tournament. Among the most unusual features of our season (along with making the first round of the NCAA tourney) was playing Yale seven (!) times.

EVERYTHING IS TERRIBLE! What was once a dream of AIC (almost in college) winning AHA and getting a sendoff by Springfield is now a reality. HC just keeps deteriorating.

Maybe we try and hire Cliff Rucker as our AD. He seems to know how to get things done.

Baseball is below gymnastics? What are they, the spotters? 🙂 I like Baseball. When they throw the first ball out at Fitton Field every year it means there are only six weeks of winter left. And aren't we still defending our 1952 national championship?

"Apply in Crayon" 😊 that's a good one. I have always reflexively said to myself "Almost in College" whenever AIC is mentioned but I never heard that one. In fairness AIC is a fine school and ahead of us in the standings.
