The 2018 season ended on November 10 -- four months ago. If a change was going to be made, it is puzzling why there was such a long delay.
There has been substantial turnover (roster attrition) throughout her four-year term.
The 2018 team was heavily reliant on freshmen and sophomores, which offers some hope for improved success in the future..

Just a guess, but maybe Nate Pine didn't want to fire Melissa Batie-Smoose -- remember, he did hire her. Firing a coach he hired wouldn't look good for him. With Pine gone, perhaps Sullivan and/or others felt a move needed to be made. Of course, that's all speculation. Perhaps something else happened that we aren't aware of that warranted her firing.

SoV, Your last statement sums it up..."we aren't aware" of what prompted this firing.
Over the last couple of years we have been losing upperclassmen and, as a result, the team got younger. Was that intentional or was something else happening of which outsiders were unaware? In any case there is a chance for a fresh start for the new coach with a young team. Also, this appears to have been done by our interim/acting AD someone said was not to be able to change coaches. Interesting.

Of the seven PL volleyball teams (USMA and USNA excluded), HC ranked 6th in spending, about $300K less on average than the top spenders, or about five fewer full scollies.

Another great FADNP hire!

For some folks, Nate Pine is simply a gift that keeps on giving. It does, however, get tiresome for others. If a job is not getting done, why fixate on who made the initial hire?

This is a post I made on another thread on July 17, 2018:
"There has been extensive roster turnover since the new coach arrived. The 2018 roster has two seniors remaining from a class of 6 recruits that entered three years ago, and no juniors from a class of 3 recruits that entered two years ago. Last year's team relied heavily on freshmen, who will be sophs this year.
On the other hand, recruiting for the program has become much more geographically diverse. Interesting that the team will start the season with 3 games in California -- smart move with 8 Californians on the roster.
As mentioned by purplehaze, this is still a very young team, but there are some signs that the staff's recruiting efforts are bringing better players to the program. It will be interesting to see how the team develops this year."

This is a post I made on another thread on July 31, 2018:
"It looks like HC volleyball has two commitments for the recruiting class of 2019.
One is Emma Van Severen (Davenport, Iowa), whose sister Sophie is currently playing volleyball at Holy Cross.
The second is Heather Pedrick (Alachua, Florida)."

There has been no announcement of recruit signings for the class entering in September 2019.
There is no 2019 roster as yet published on the Volleyball web page.
