A Brooklyn Dodger fan knows a great deal about eternal hope. Should Cashman spent some of those multi millions on an arm(s) ? In addition to the Yankees’ newfound cheapness, the really good arms never seem to make it to free agency anymore. At least not at a young enough age that a long-term deal makes sense. Are you suggesting that the $298 million that my beloved Red Sox will spend on Sale, Price and Eovaldi over the next several years doesn't "make sense?"

Definitely makes sense in a Jacoby Ellsbury kind of way.

The Twins ain’t playin’ in the AL Central anymore. Since 2004, the Yankees are 5-0 vs. the Twins in the AL post-season . . . and 19-34 vs. everybody else, including 4-13 against other AL Central teams (Indians, Tigers).

Hope I'm wrong but I don't see the Yanks getting past Houston.
2018 Red Sox proved it was possible to win a World Series with no bullpen.
2019 Yankees looking to prove that you can win a World Series with average starting pitching.

On tv the announcers said that the last two Tampa Bay crowds were the first sellouts of the season. Their average attendance this season was 9000+. There is a triple A team in Las Vegas that averages more. Pathetic.

There is a triple A team in Las Vegas that averages more. Pathetic. Last I knew, the Rays had the second highest average baseball attendance in the city of Tampa. The honor of first went to the Yankees spring training games With about 19 of 81 home games against the Red Sox and Yankees, the Tampa average attendance gets inflated by large visiting fans. Imagine if they played in the Central division

Will love it if the Rays can squeak past the Astros. I think it's a better match up for the Yankees obviously, and the Yanks should have more fans at the games in Tampa than they will at Yankee Stadium more than likely.

It was a Happy Gleyber Day indeed. 22 years old. Pretty impressive. Hopefully he and a few others can get to Verlander and Cole the next two days. Tall order.

Maybe Jeffrey Loria should throw out the first ball for the Nationals' World Series home opener. Without him maybe the team's still in Montreal.
Cannot believe after that he was given a second team (as well as the idiots in Miami who gave him a stadium) so John Henry could own the Red Sox. And that team was ravaged as well.

Will today’s AL rainout and resulting change of pitcher rotation be a deciding factor ?

If the Yankees have a shot, the rain delay helps

If the Yankees have a shot, the rain delay helps Hard to figure since now Greinke can pitch tomorrow( I know Tanaka can also) but this also allows Verlander to pitch Friday, night and the Astros then can throw Cole in games 6 or 7.

Agree but think the Yankees have a better shot going against Verlander at home. The question is what can the Yankees get from the starters after Tanaka??. With that said, up to this point, the Astros haven't dominated offensively but will see how the next game goes.

I do not know the home-away splits, but Verlander is 5-0 vs the Yan.. in the playoffs.

Hard to imagine that all four expansion teams from the 90's had won pennants as of 10 years ago, but the 50 year old Expos/Nationals just got their first last night. I guess all they needed to do was get rid of Bryce Harper

I think Harper was and probably still is a divisive influence on most/ all teammates.

I think the only pitching difference if everyone stays on regular rest is that the game where each team will start an opener is now Game 6. The previous Game 5 and 6 starters just move up to Games 4 and 5. The other pitching matchups are the same. The problem for the Yankees is that they’re using their bullpen a lot and 4 days in a row will be very difficult for them to manage particularly when they want to be able yank every starter except Tanaka at the first sign of trouble.

I would make the Yankees slight favorites in Games 4 and 6 (if necessary) with the Astros a slight favorite in Game 5 and a prohibitive favorite in Game 7 (if necessary).

I guess all they needed to do was get rid of Bryce Harper I think there are 7 teams that haven't won it all- Senators/Rangers ; Expos/Nats; Padres; Pilots/Brewers ; Mariners ; Rockies; Rays. And, of course, at this point, the longest drought belongs to the Indians.

Mariners are the last team standing to never even make he World Series. In fact, as of this week, every other team has won a pennant since the Mariners were formed and 2/3 of the teams have won multiple pennants
