No mention of her career W-L record as a D-2 head coach. I seem to recall FMBBC MB arrived with a poor career W-L record as a head coach at a slightly lower D-1 level. In general the pattern of win consistently at a lower level and then move up is as good a barometer as you can find, but am happy an alum is returning.
Welcome home Kathleen!

Most likely a stronger winning percentage than HC Athletics overall record during the same time period and improving every year as opposed to flatlining.

That's all you have to show to get a D.1 gig at HC in many minor sports - I say that's pretty sad and only points to more poor years ahead for that sport - another example of our student athletes putting 100 pct effort only to have little chance at succeeding - not sure I'll ever understand this philosophy

You have more courage than me Haze. I was struggling to say something similar but didn't want to rain on the parade of a bright young alum returning to the hill. I had the sense when MB was hired that he hadn't built a strong enough track record to move up yet. He was a fine gentleman, but he followed (after a one year calamity) a coach who had mastered his craft and the difference was hard on fans.
I hate to praise FADNP, but comparing his hire of Chesney, who not only improved his program each year, but mastered his craft at D-2 before moving up to D-1, to Sullivan's first I believe (with an asterisk for AM) I favor the former approach. I do think AM was a good interim hire.
Looking on the bright side, perhaps improving a program each year in a strong D-2 conference at a school like Stonehill is a good credential for the challenge of a minor sport in the PL at a school like HC.

We have nowhere to go but up. Good luck to Coach Colpoys! Good luck to our new coach. She should be good at scouting opposing teams as her name is an anagram of Cool Spy......

Stonehill announcement with career record. www.stonehillskyhawks.com/sports/wvball/2018-19/releases/20190423e1bdheIMO, success in volleyball is dependent on good to great recruiting, Good to great recruiting means recruiting outside of New England. I glanced at the AAU 15 and under club volleyball teams that participated in the 2018 national championships. Many dozens of teams, two teams from PA were the closest I found to a team from the Northeast. I will say the heights for many of the girls on these 15 and U rosters (i.e., high school sophomores) would draw the interest of a basketball coach. Seven of the ten players on a team from Raleigh are 5'10" or taller. The shortest player is 5'6".

Based on PP’s post, it appears that Coach Colpoys’ record at Stonehill was better than stated above (46-54 overall and 27-29 in the league with exactly .500 [11-11 and 7-7] this year). Depending on the records before she arrived at Stonehill, that record could represent major improvement. In any case, .460 and .500 winning % for future HC women’s volleyball teams would represent substantial improvement, particularly for a program with one of the smallest budgets in the PL. Best wishes to her.

I believe that Coach Colpoys has the opportunity to do well at Holy Cross.
As I have posted on previous occasions, one puzzling thing about the former coach is the dramatic roster attrition that occurred during her time at Holy Cross. The 2018 roster had 5 freshmen, 9 sophomores, and 2 seniors. The 2019 roster has not yet been published, but if one extrapolates from the 2018 roster there will be no seniors. Previous postings indicated that there were 2 incoming freshmen for 2019, but there has been no official confirmation of that.
More on point, the statistics for the 2018 season show that 5 sophomores (2019 juniors) and 2 freshmen (2019 sophs) had the most playing time. This is therefore a young team that will have its core performers in 2018 available for two more seasons (2019 and 2020). If the new coach can develop and improve these players, an improved record is a real possibility.
