Re: The Jo. Looks to ne 99.9% completed. There were several workers yesterday inside, probably working on punch list items. The one significant remaining task is to test the fire alarm and related systems. The fire department often shows up and tours the building, to become familiar with the layout.

From a drone photograph of the SE corner of the PPAC, hidden from the webcam. The perspective is from Figge. This unexpected, new structure appears to be where the mechanical equipment and utility infrastructure will be located, rather than inside the PPAC itself. Alternatively, it is for external storage (sets, props), or a custom construction office. I doubt the latter as there are pilings and shoring barely visible at far lower right of the image. If my hunch is correct, I think this structure will be mounded over with dirt and meadow plants, and largely hidden.

Thanks, pak. Your insights are always appreciated, as are your guesses (much more accurate than mine!).

HCFC45, thanks again for the on-scene updates.
If you look at the PPAC webcam, you can see what appears to be the edge of the Hogan cornice at the lower left.

Are the bricked in windows on O'Kane supposed to be replaced with real windows once the PAC is up and running? Anyone know?

Are the bricked in windows on O'Kane supposed to be replaced with real windows once the PAC is up and running? Anyone know? I have not heard anything about the future re-use of the theater in O'Kane, --maybe convert it to a large lecture hall? Or what will happen to the large space on the lower floors of O'Kane currently used by the Theater Dept. Or what, if anything, will happen with Brooks Recital Hall in Fenwick, which was recently re-built using in part, IIRC, a generous donation from a reunion class.

They removed the bricks covering the south side windows a few years ago. I predict that bricks covering the three bricked-over windows on the west side will be removed summer of 2022. ^^^Fenwick theater ^^^ The Pit ^^^ Dance Studio ^^^ O'Kane 481 Plus there is a costume shop and a production room.

PP--Thanks for posting these pictures. I thought Fenwick Theatre was a great place to see a play, although I am sure that it may not have been the best place to try to stage one. I took an Intro to Theatre class which met in the theatre much of the time. It was a blast. I am sure that the new Performing Arts center will be a big upgrade for students, faculty, and audiences.

I must admit those student who attended HC after me, had a much broader, more interesting menu of courses from which to choose. It is a huge improvement. Wonderful! Class of '67 had remnants of the outdated "ratio studiorum," CatholicTheology, Philosophy, Latin, Greek and various courses in History, PoliSci, Soc., Eco, English, Science, Foreign Language and not much else (Most assuredly due to the fog of decades I have omitted some courses.) plus Freshman daily Mass(M-F good for many young hormone happy fellas.)). At that time friends complained that HC was nothing more than a "glorified prep school" intent on getting students into med./law/grad school. A number of my classmates did quite Others I knew outside of HC had a much broader education at that time. Since my time,HC has grown into a better liberal arts college. Students have so much more than I did. I'm jealous.

Don't forget the required science course (for non-science majors) Intro to Geology and Astronomy. It was known affectionately as "Rocks and Stars." I am afraid it did not boost my knowledge of science to any degree.

By the time I became a sophomore, they dropped the core curriculum, just the major requirements remained. I was a math major, took Astronomy my second semester junior year. Liked the course and, yes, it wasn't that hard. Glad I passed on Geology. I did get burned on a classics course my sophomore year. Everyone said the professor was easy, but I ended up with one of my two Cs for my academic career . Then again, I was never much of a writer if the subject wasn't sports.

A construction update. The contractor has begun installing glass on the large studio space that is on the second floor facing Hogan and Easy St. This space can also serve as a function room, and there is an outdoor terrace than can be accessed from this room. (One of the new renderings is captioned 'view from the bar'.)

From looking at the rendering, then the webcam to see the actual picture of current construction. it appears the room and the outdoor deck will have an outstanding view of the Worcester Hills and Mt. Watchusett.. It will be a great area for receptions in the future. It will provide another venue other than Hogan for Student and Alumni functions.
Looking forward to attending events in the new PPAC. Long overdue for the HC community.
