Check out some of our architect's other designs on PP's post 5 above. To me they just seem designed to shock people--some extremely bizarre looking buildings. There are some scathing comments from observers about the University of Toronto work. Well, the inside of our building is impressive and let's hope itis functional acoustically and otherwise. Interesting looking at the renderings for the University of Toronto. Some of the design concepts in the Prior are also seen in their building. Something that caught my attention, some of the people depicted in gathering spaces at the Prior, also appear in the proposed building in Toronto. There are several that I remember distinctly from the HC original renderings.

I can tell you from being in there for a performance that the Luth Concert Hall functions extra-ordinarily well acoustically. Was told that with the wall up and the doors closed in the Boroughs Theater, you can not hear anything from the Beehive and vice versa. The Scene Shop and Costume Shop are impressive and the folks who work in them were ebullient about the spaces and were eager to discuss all of the features of their spaces. And the Cantor Art Gallery is a big step up over the lobby of O'Kane with natural light pouring in through the West facing wall of windows over the main entrance. I would not say it is appreciably larger than the old space (essentially as big as a single gallery in a larger museum) but you can envision the flexibility of the space for other exhibits. I believe it will work extraordinarily well. My only question is, if the building was intended to be a "living room," what will bring the students to hang out there on a random Tuesday afternoon or evening. There's a serving counter for what I assume will be lunch or coffee bar and some seating, but unless you are going there for a performance or a class or workshop, I do not see students heading there to simply hang out together. If you look at The Jo, Hogan, The Prior PAC, and Luth/Hart Center as well as all the fields behind Hart it does complete a new Quad, if you will, for student activities, which may have been the intention. Thanks much for the first-hand observations. I concur with your last two paragraphs about the 'living room', and that there is no single 'living room' The polled students during Fr. McF's and Frank V,'s tenure had arrived at HC about a generation + later -----after the Brickskellar: news.holycross.edu/blog/2020/04/22/inside-holy-cross-most-unique-dorm-community/

I had not seen that piece on Wheeler Dorm--my home for all four years at Holy Cross. I spent two years on Wheeler 3. then a year on the first co-ed floor Wheeler 2; then senior year on Wheeler 1. It was the best dorm on campus by far.

From the webcam today, repairs are underway for either an obstructed sewer pipe or drain pipe. Tried suction pumping the obstruction earlier today, but additional equipment was called in.

FWIW, the PPAC webcam is once again trained on the actual PPAC rather than the Hogan parking lot.

And the Jo webcam is still redacted. 😳
Any answers regarding the alien form on the camera lense?

Can camera pixels (if that's the right term) burn out? That's my theory and, if so, they would have to replace that camera. That said, I do like the theory that it hides a Crusader logo except having been on campus, there is no Crusader or even the non-descript shield logo on The Jo building.

The black box in the middle of the image is where the start play button is located.

When a pixel on a camera goes/dies it will show up as a white dot. Some cameras can self-correct a defective pixel.

My year frosh were in Wheeler and Beven only. Then as sophs we were moved to Carlin and Alumni. I always felt that the hill behind Wheeler was the best for Kimball tray sledding.

If you get a chance, see if you can get access to the terrace (balcony?). Was fortunate to run into Rosie Cruz the Director of Performing Arts (if I have the title correctly) as in 3 tries wasn't able to get up there as it is normally locked to the dance studio but ran into Rosie who was happy to take us there. Great view of downtown Worcester and used for receptions. She told us they already had 4-5 receptions there and with the overhang, even inclement weather is not a stopper.
