Rollie Massimino went from Lexington HS to (at the time) D3 Stony Brook to Penn Assistant to Villanova.
Jim Calhoun went from Dedham HS to (at the time) D2 Northeastern to UConn.
Think those guys worked out pretty good.

Bo Ryan head coaching experience - Sun Valley HS, then 15 years at D3 Wisconsin-Platteville, before getting the head job at Milwaukee, at age 52.
Bob McKillop had been coaching HS on Long Island for sixteen years when Davidson came calling.

Something tells me he is next in line to coach his alma mater, Davidson College. If Bob Mackillop weren't pushing 70, He sounds like the ideal candidate. He might even find recruiting at HC easier than doing so at Swathmore. Their acceptance rate is 13%. His son Matt is the favorite. Faculty and Administration are behind the transition

As an outsider I’m interested in who Holy Cross hires and if it will be the usual reaction from most of this board. It will be the greatest hire in college basketball and a few years later people won’t be able to run him out of town quick enough. Must be nice to root for a team whose coach is 172-251 over 13 seasons and no one cares. At all. Isn’t that the same at almost all New England colleges perhaps besides URI and Providence? Both of our schools have some of the same issues a much older fan base, not a lot of student support or community. I’m still me but feel that I’m bringing up legit points. I’m not coming after anyone just stating the truth not sure if I’ve hit a nerve. Not my intent but I’m pretty confident I’ve hit a nerve with my honest postings.

Don’t lump New Hampshire basketball in with the following programs: Boston College, UMass, Holy Cross, UConn, Yale, Harvard, Vermont, Northeastern, among others.
The preceding schools have been up and down, but they have all won at least something in this century and have some sort of basketball history. New Hampshire has nothing.

NO UNH men's basketball team has ever won more than 20 games. It's hard to compare any other program to that in terms of lack of excellence. 2. UNH has had ten winning season since 1939. That's about 80 years.

Yes, you have hit a nerve with people who are annoyed with a fan of a completely irrelevant program beating a dead horse with a straw man.

At least the all time UNH-St. Anselm series is close. St. A's leads 36-28.

Ahhh yes because I read the articles in the Boston papers every morning on Holy Cross and their success in the Big East. I’m sure their will be plenty of coverage with the hiring of the new coach both in the papers and on tv.

Again, your program is (and always has been) totally irrelevant and you are taking the time to come to another school’s message board to say that you don’t like that some of said school’s fans are nostalgic of days when its basketball and football programs were somewhat “big time.” I can’t speak for everyone, but if there was a poll, I would guess that the vast majority don’t care what a UNH fan/troll thinks about Holy Cross athletics and its supporters.

Still, we do welcome input from "outsiders". In this case, the kerfuffle has occurred because we noticed a little snarkiness creeping into the posts.

We really need some news on the coaching search before this place completely turns on itself. The combination of "more people tuned in" and "no news to discuss in summer" isn't a good one.

I, for one, appreciate the thoughts and perspective of UNH. But, I have also noticed that his more recent posts have had an "edge" to them. Not that what he has posted is wrong or incorrect, just that the tone has been a little less collegial. That said, I am not sure if this is a "chicken or the egg" phenomena. He's been called out and some personal back & forths that happen here.
Maybe everyone take a breath and we'll again see the "real" UNH who has historically been very complimentary and supportive of HC athletics. I still maintain that UNH fans are the most welcoming of HC fans when you come watch games on their campus and hope that doesn't change - or that other opponents take a page from those at Wildcat.
