As Illinois nears Big 10 competition, they could be cutting down on the rotation.

All his minutes were in the first two games, really. And they were two games where they could name the score.

Only 3 bench players got double digit minutes in last nights game, a big who started his first two years and 2 freshmen. Looks like the freshmen are getting the minutes Jacob hoped to get when he transferred there.

Looks like he may not have made as good a choice as he had hoped.

Doesn’t much matter although I wish him well in life.
As I told my kids and remind the grandkids We all make decisions each day-some good and some bad How we live with them makes men out of little boys and women out of little girls Only he will know if it was the right decision.

Down 6 at the end, Grandi plays last few seconds and makes a 3...88-91 Rutgers final

The box score said he played 3 minutes. Was the entire 3 minutes at the end of a close game?

The final margin of 3 was the closest Illinois got in the last few minutes. He played only at the end.

Their two 3 point shooters fouled out and they were down 6.

Looks like he may not have made as good a choice as he had hoped. He's a scholarship player at a Big Ten school where basketball is religion. And he's going to get at least some of grad school paid for if I'm not mistaken since he should academically be a senior this year. Grandison's a nice player but he's not CJ McCollum.

Looks like he may not have made as good a choice as he had hoped. He’s receiving a scholarship to play on a top 10 team in, arguably, the best conference in the country. I’m sure he’s not missing playing at a bottom 25 program these days.

Maybe things have changed since my days living in Columbus but their "religion" wasn't basketball at OSU and and the rest of the Big 10, it was football and it wasn't a close call. That said, Grandison probably made the right choice for him.

That said, Grandison probably made the right choice for him. these days there are a lot of Big10 schools where basketball is at least as big, if not bigger. Ohio State, of course, is one of the exceptions, along with Penn State and Nebraska. The Big10 thus far this year is ranked as the top basketball conference in the country (Pomeroy).

That said, Grandison probably made the right choice for him. Illinois is without a doubt a basketball school. Just about everywhere else in the Big Ten, with the exception of Michigan State, Indiana and Purdue, football is undoubtedly king. Oh, and I forgot Maryland is in the Big Ten -- another school where basketball is #1.

Quite true, but if he is only getting to play 3 minutes in a game, he may well be missing "playing." And there is always that unbridled optimism that roles can change (injuries, graduations, growth spurt, early departures to the professional ranks, other kids transfer, lightning strikes, new coach, new offense, etc.). At the same time (to veer wildly off topic) I've absolutely never understood the kid who is buried on the depth chart at a major football power who could transfer to a place like HC and be an absolute superstar. And doesn't. Doesn't the kid want to 'play' competitive football? I guess hope springs eternal for many of those kids too...plus just being part of a big and winning program as a practice player and backup is apparently appealing also.

2010, I stipulated things may have changed over time. 20 years ago, Maryland wasn’t in the Big 10. OSU, Michigan, Michigan State were all football. Had a buddy from Indiana and his alma mater there and Wisconsin too were targeting football as where they wanted to excel and where the big money was.
Times change. I remember when Holy Cross, Bucknell and Lehigh were premiere basketball schools in the PL.

Also in all recent years, they have had the highest average attendance per game. Basketball is very big at Indiana, Purdue, Wisconsin, Michigan State, Maryland, Illinois, Rutgers, and Iowa, among others. As for Bucknell, we'll have to see what happens in the next couple of years, but I might add that Bucknell has won or tied for five of the past six PL regular season championships and three of the past five PL tournament titles.

Instead he may (and I do say "may") be asked "what was that team you sat on the bench for?"

I do imagine being on the basketball team at Illinois will serve him well as he enters the job market, especially in that part of the country.
