Ran into some old pals who caught some glimpses of the team. They said that AB's highlight videos weren't just highlights - looks to be the real deal, and can shoot lights out. We will see how it works out facing D1 talent, but the early reports are very positive. He'll be one of at least three frosh that should contribute right away. Floyd and Stevens also look to have beefed up and will show improvement. Team may be better than most expect.

I saw Floyd in Hogan in June and he had gotten much stronger. floyd has a great basketball body and he adds a defensive dimension to this team that is rare in the pl. that said, his ability to stay out of foul trouble will be an x factor in next season's success.

He showed some improvement last season, but still has a way to go. I think almost all sophomores do show improvement in avoiding fouls as they get used to the faster pace of the college game and better understand their defensive assignments. Frosh season for JF = 58 personal fouls in 272 minutes= 8.5 per 40 minutes Sophomore season= 63 personal fouls in 375 minutes= 6.7 per 40 minutes

JF fouled out of 3 games his frosh year, 2 his soph season I believe that he will be allowed to stay on the court with multiple fouls far more often than last season.

Out of confidence in his ability not to pick up a 5th or out of necessity? Hopefully the first maybe a bit of both but he may be allowed to play with 2 fouls in the first half, 3 in the second, not just with 4 in the second

JF's progress on this front has been incrementally steady since he first started getting meaningful time during conference play his freshman year. Very interested to see Butler, reputation as lights out shooter don't translate to a 32 percent 3 point and a 68 percent foul shooter. Did shoot 41 percent from three as a junior maybe senior year stats a result of poor shot selection.

.Maybe was told to shoot too often or was beaten up by football

Perhaps he did not have a supporting cast as a senior that kept opponents from concentrating on him with their defensive strategies.

.Maybe was told to shoot too often or was beaten up by football I think those are good bets. As we've discussed, AB has perfect "Jerry West" form on his shot-- with good shot selection (he won't be expected to score 30 points per game for HC as a freshman) I'll bet he posts a very good 3 point shooting percentage

Hoops, found in MaxPrep stats for Butler, interesting actually attempted 30 less 30's as senior but 100 more two's maybe taking ball to hoop more which makes free throw percentage more important as will probably got fouled more

I saw him this morning in the HC "practice". He can shoot it, and score around the hoop. He plays with a a lot of confidence. He has a great body, and I think he can play right away and contribute as long as he can digest the offense...The question will be, can he defend?

Thanks, Di What did you think of the other frosh and the returnees ? Did the recruit play ? All the frosh looked promising..Green stood out to me..I think he will see time at point guard...The other player who stood out was Marcelus Perkins..He looked good... The recruit played, His play didn't negatively affect him..He was a point guard...I think this group has a lot of promise and will be interesting to follow..Seems to me to be a group that will be close knit.. One play that had that WOW factor..Green drove down the lane on the right side and tossed up what at first I thought was an awful shot. It was in fact an alley oop to JF who rolled down the left side for an impressive one handed catch and throw down...Shades of Rob Feaster! Green sees the entire floor!!
