A nice 4 day trip to the west coast for our team but unfortunately outclassed in both matches after yday's 4-0 loss to San Diego. Will be interesting if they improved while playing against higher-level programs.

I hope so. It will also be interesting to see their first goal of the season.

Sports like this one is where our new AD can make his mark over a five year span. Let's hope TPTB are encouraging him to do so and holding him accountable. FADNP was praised coming in and praised going out to a promotion to an FBS school, without regard for the success rate of the HC teams.

This weekend's game. will be a key for this year's women's soccer team. Holy Cross and Sacred Heart have a combined total of ZERO goals scored this year. These two teams last played over a decade ago. HC won 2-1 back in 2007. This year, HC has 6 shots on goal in two games, while SHU has 10 SOG. An HC win could be a fresh start for the season.

I watched some of the HC-USD game on Stadium. The first goal at about 43 minute mark was a header off a corner. The USD front line looked to be about six inches taller on average than the HC defenders
Based on what the announcers said, HC played Cal Baptist pretty even, then wilted in the second half. Appears to have been a similar sequence in the USD game. Announcers kept referring to the steamy San Diego weather.
Interesting that the game was played at the football stadium, on a field that was more dirt than grass. I was very surprised to see a football field in such poor condition before the start of the season, but perhaps they practice on it as well.
Perhaps this is the USD version of the parquet floor.

Announcers kept referring to the steamy San Diego weather. The high temperature for the day was 83 degrees, which is abnormally high for San Diego. It was only the second time this year that it got into the 80's.

USD has a non-scholarship FCS football program. Not overly surprising that field maintenance is not that robust.

This program hasn't gone above. 500 in the PL since 2000.

This program hasn't gone above. 500 in the PL since 2000. Our plan of tanking and rebuilding through the draft has obviously not worked out.

The Luth should take one full recruiting generation (5-6 yrs) to see if it is translating to improved w-l records. It couldn't translate to worse records.

Technically, since HC has a tie...it could.

Another draw (0-0) vs Vermont. We need to give credit to the HC defense. After giving up 7 goals to their first 2 opponents, they have not allowed a goal in their last 3 games (1 win and 2 draws). I see that as a hopeful sign for the remainder of the season.

I see that as a hopeful sign for the remainder of the season. Part of that may be due to defensive improvement. But part is also due to their having played significantly weaker opponents the last three games than they faced the first two.

Since taking it on the chin in our two West Coast games, we are now 2-0-3 in our last five with today’s 4-0 win over St. Francis (NY).

I’d temper your enthusiasm a bit as the real season starts next Sunday with army - our W’s over Bryant and st. Francis (1st year with a program and has not scored a goal yet on the season 0-6). Yes, let’s hope we see improvement and get in the playoffs for the first time ‘since 2000’

Well the "real" season has started and HC is still "undefeated" in the PL...with a 1-1 tie after double overtime.

Women gain another point in a 1-1 tie with Loyola. Their fifth tie of the season sets a program record.
