Copeland will vie with MZ and CLS for minutes. He's slightly better than either in all facets imho. I hope so! If not better than these two, we will be in very bad shape next year

If not better than these two, we will be in very bad shape next year Well, as i mention above, Marcellus and Austin will certainly also contend for minutes as may either Pat or Caleb, whomever does not play point. the 1, 2 and 3 positions are more set than the 4-5. The 2 frosh bigs can hopefully solve that

NAD (presumably) saw Exeter keep its season alive with a win over Milton academy, 63-54 Play in the A final tomorrow at Rhode Island College vs Suffield NAD must be celebrating with Kyle. No, that would be an NCAA violation

Hehe, I did cross paths with Kyle on my way out of the gym yesterday, but resisted the urge to go up to him.
Good game yesterday. St Mark's (EGreen) is the only other prep school I've ever really visited - was very impressed with Exeter's campus. Gym much bigger as well (bleachers on one side, had to be at least 20 rows). Without the media timeouts, the game really flew by; Milton had the edge in the first half; Exeter coming back strong in the second.
As for Kyle - first, wanted to measure him with the Stanley tape measure I had brought along, but was politely asked to get out of the layup line and take a seat. From the bleachers, he seems to be 6-4 or so. His body type is very similar to Marcellis Perkins' (thin, not a wide body). As for his game:
OFFENSE: While the ball always touched his hands on every trip, he did not appear to be offensive minded, or the top dog. They were pretty balanced, but it was actually BU signee Javante McCoy who the main guy, if there was one (he's also thin, seemed to be bout an inch taller). I had Kyle down for 5 points, on 2-8 shooting (0-4 on 3's), 1-2 free throws, 1 rebound, 3 assists and 4 turnovers. Three of those turnovers were simply passes he made where there was miscommunication with a teammate. Had a couple of nice no look dishes for assists. As for his shot, he seemed consistent, got squared up, elevated nicely, had a nice arc on the shots....just missed. The only thing that looked odd (maybe my imagination) was that, on his grip for the jumper, it seemed like his right hand wasn't squarely behind the ball, but more towards the right side. Still, didn't see his elbow fly out, or any hitch. Could be he just had a bad day shooting. He looked to drive maybe 4-5 times, always to the right after a jab step (used the jab step a lot). Overall, smooth, but not explosive.
DEFENSE: This was interesting. Exeter played exclusively m2m. Kyle played a few different guys; lot of switching. He got 3-4 deflections; don't recall getting burned, except once in transition, where he lost his man who got a layup. What was interesting was - whenever this 5-9 or so backup came in the game for Milton, Kyle was assigned to him, and he guarded him 94 feet. Stayed right with him, and picked his pocket once at midcourt. Looks like there is some versatility here; I could see him at both the front and back of the 1-3-1. Unfortunately, he did not get involved in rebounding in this game.
OVERALL: Played most of the game; took a 2-3 minute break each half. Was quite engaged while on the bench; vocal at times while on the floor. While I would have liked see more involvement/numbers, I'm guessing the competition here (although not the top prep league) is probably still a bit better than what our high school guys faced. Mostly in control, although in the last minute he fouled a 3 point shooter close to 30 feet away from the basket. At this point in time, I wouldn't expect instant offense out of him out of the chute; however, he might be able to earn time if we are struggling defensively. Just one game, we need to keep in mind.
The best player on the court yesterday was this 2018 Kirk Hinrich lookalike for Milton named Cormac Ryan (game similar to Hinrich, too). I thought "looks like a nice Ivy/Patriot player". At halftime I google him, and find he has at least a dozen high major offers, including Villanova. So take my reports with a boulder of salt!

Great report, Dave--some excellent feedback on KC's game, complemented by this witty gem:
"As for Kyle - first, wanted to measure him with the Stanley tape measure I had brought along, but was politely asked to get out of the layup line and take a seat."
