Women's soccer starts all over the country today including our team in Cal taking on Cal Baptist and U of San Diego on Sunday. Our team has not made the PL playoffs in 18 years - that's right not since 2000 ! Is there a strategy to improve this program ? Let's hope so.

What is the $ spent on the program vis-a-vis our opponents? Are there scholarships and do our opponents have them?
Certainly the soccer venue is pretty top notch.

For women's soccer, HC spent the second lowest amount in the PL in 2017-18 (no data for Army/Navy, but the academies spend moire as all their players are 'scollies'). AU spent the least, The six other PL schools roughly average $300-400K more in spending than HC., or about 4-5 full scollie equivalents. University of San Diego (tomorrow) will be a tough opponent., play against a higher level of competition than California Baptist. .

But there is a big difference between the different PL schools other than HC. Boston U, at the top, spends a LOT more than any other PL school - and they are fully funded. Colgate is second in spending, but not close to Boston U. Then Loyola, Bucknell, Lafayette, and Lehigh follow in that order. The gap from Boston U to Lehigh is about $435K in terms of spending on financial aid, salaries, and recruiting. And HC is about $180K less than Lehigh - and about $615K less than Boston U.

Confusing unless you meant “less than BU” at the end

Looking at today’s results in men’s soccer, volleyball and field hockey are absolutely embarrassing - all the stats are so onesided - some of these Olympic sports teams could possibly be worse this year -

That matchup is akin to our football team playing Alabama today - imagine the PSU coach knows that and will substitute freely

lost 3-0 including 25-5 in the first set - actually unfair to subject our ladies to such a mismatch - nor sure what they were thinking when they scheduled this tourney.

They were probably thinking they’d get some experience playing a top program as one of our OOC matches.

We lost 3-0 to Hofstra to wrap up the weekend - but kudos to women’s x-c which put us in the win column finally beating UNH and providence yday

We had a freshman who had 8 kills against PSU. Does she come to HC if we’re only playing the Sacred Hearts and Bentleys in our OOC matches? Maybe. Probably not. Second and third matches were 25-12 and 25-14. Not terrible against the “Alabama” of women’s volleyball.

They were clearly the second best team in that tourney.
