39-27 with 1:52 left. Looks like Upper Merion will play for the District Championship against the 3-seed, Penncrest. Like tonight's game, the title game will be at Temple.

"Faw missed six weeks in the middle of the season, a big reason the Vikings (16-9) lost nine of 15 games from Dec. 27 to Feb. 2. But with the D-I forward back in the mix, they’re looking much more like the team that was expected to compete for the 5A championship in the preseason."
So, Upper Merion was 6-9 when Matt Faw was out and 10-0 when he was playing.......

Glad he was able to contribute last night without his shots falling. I suspect shooting in a 10,000 seat arena feels a little different than the Upper Merion HS gym.

District 1 class 5A final Saturday 2 pm at Villanova 4 of our 5 recruits' teams have had significantly successful seasons and are still alive in their respective playoffs. RW at the beginning of every season would have a meeting and ask everyone who won a state championship to raise their hand. There was usually a fair amount of players who raised their hands....success breeds success.

District 1 class 5A final Saturday 2 pm at Villanova 4 of our 5 recruits' teams have had significantly successful seasons and are still alive in their respective playoffs. RW at the beginning of every season would have a meeting and ask everyone who won a state championship to raise their hand. There was usually a fair amount of players who raised their hands....success breeds success. i also liked rw's strategy of often recruiting guys from great teams who had been somewhat overshadowed by upperclassmen (kevin hamilton) or extremely high profile teammates (brian wilson, jave meade, devin brown). the whole notion that rw couldn't recruit, was too old, "left an empty cupboard" was complete BS. yes, for those new to the board... rw was accused of many of the same baseless things carm has been. look how many all-league players rw produced! as for now, i like how many prep school guys carm is targeting. that high level of competition - and extra year of development - can go a very long way in having a game-ready player. carm has done a nice job with a mix of big, small, private, public, and prep in this incoming class. i can honestly say i don't think i've ever been more excited for a recruiting class than next year's since i've been following hc basketball. these guys will get immediate minutes by virtue of opportunity alone, many of them have scholarship offers from our recruiting competition, they have been producing on good teams this year, and they all seem to have the attributes that will lead to success in carm's offensive and defensive coaching styles. hopefully we have a few more games this year, but i can't wait to see these guys in purple!

Does anyone remember what RJ Evans was ranked in New England when we was a senior? I know he was the highest rated NE player to come to HC (or at least recently)? Curious for comparison sakes with this incoming class....

Copeland is turning into a real wild card in that we are hearing so little about him compared to the game-by-game reports we are getting on our other four recruits, with eyewitness reports on a couple of them as well.
I am on board with dado's comment about being more excited about this class than about any other recruit class in many years.
