Crucis, back in the day, there was discussion on this board on using what is now the McFarland atrium as a permanent concession or sports memorabilia display area. And I opined, based on the plans, that life safety codes probably precluded such. To build Blaney, HC demolished the emergency exits on the north side of the Hart. New exits were constructed, inside an expanded building footprint. Those new exits have a certain rated egress capacity, and that calculation is complicated by having placed the 12 or so wheelchair 'seats' on the upper level.
Whether HC ever considered pushing the new lobby entrance to the Hart even further toward Hogan to create an area for memorabilia display, I know not. I do recall Fr. K., who lamented the loss of the old trophy display area, remarking there was a concern about theft of items on display. (After all, if thieves stole a bell weighing hundreds of pounds, what would deter them from snatching a NCAA championship trophy?)
Not that I am proposing such for a HC history museum, but sizable spaces inside O'Kane will become available in two years.

In celebration of the Patriot League Championship this weekend, I will be auctioning off the 1920's Hoy Cross Scrapbook. All proceeds will be donated directly to the Gridiron Club. www.ebay.com/itm/274102948753I know I have been critical of certain aspects of our 2019 team, but a Patriot League Championship is a Patriot League Championship. Hopefully this will be the stepping stone needed to build the brand and create a greater sense of excitement around HC Football (past and present). Auction will hopefully end on Saturday after we have clinched our first PLC since 2009 and an auto-bid to the 2019 FCS Playoff.

I am late to this party but as I went through this thread, the question that immediately came to mind and then answered was this “B+ McCann” the English professor who was probably 75 years old when I had him for freshman English.
Two stories: 1. I never actually got a B+ from him (2 Bs in my two semesters with him). He had the reputation of being an easy grader so when I never got the B+, I deluded myself into thinking B+ was the TOP grade one could get. At least I did better than a “Gentleman’s C.” 2. He was the fastest talker I ever encountered in my life. He made a tobacco auctioneer seem slow. If the classes were 50 minutes long, he would talk at great length about the history of Holy Cross, especially the athletic history like Lou Sockalexis, Bullet Bill Osmanski, Cousy, etc. and still squeeze in a full 50 minute lecture in 20 minutes.
It is a shame that we likely have no more professors like him who have the institutional memory of the College.
I always thought Mr. McCann should have gotten a waiver to be buried in the College’s cemetery.
I do believe he was a lifelong bachelor.

I might have mentioned this earlier, but Mr. McCann had me meet him in his office after grading the final exam. He started off by pulling out an old grade book and shared with me the grades my father received in the same class.. He then told me I should be proud of my work, that not only did I earn an A, but I outperformed my dad. He was a special and kind man, who unfortunately passed away suddenly in 1970. A I recall,it was a few weeks later and very early in the second semester.
