Nice pictures. Would like to see all New England FBS/FCS teams be successful. I believe rising tides lifts all boats. It would be great to have college football matter around here.

Nice shots. The UMass team coming bursting onto the field through the smoke was impressive.

Building an FBS program is not easy. Building it in an environment where everyone (especially in EMass) slams it constantly even harder. Slamming D1 college football has an effect on all programs, even HC. Get behind UMass, it's a good thing. BC has been pretending to be "big time" since the 1960s and they're now the doormat of the ACC. What does that bode for UMass whose venture into a FBS conference was an abysmal failure?? (I distinctly recall an ad for BC football in a car on the Boston T, which clearly suggested that they had a "big-tiime" team.)

Sorry, but the entertainment value of BC losing every week outweighs any benefit that that the success of its football team would have on other New England programs.

A successful BC, a successful UMass and a successful UConn will lift the profile of college football throughout New England. The way those three teams are now there is no reason to follow them.

Would non-graduates of BC and UMass in New England actually "follow" their teams? It would seem that they would satisfy their football cravings by following Brady and the Patriots. The Big 10 reportedly took in Rutgers to get access to the New York market, but it's been pointed out in the press, the only people in the area with any real interest in the ups and downs (mostly downs) of the Scarlet Knights are Rutgers graduates. Rutgers in the Big Ten primarily gives fans of Michigan, Penn State, and Ohio State who live in the NYC area the opportunity to see their old schools thrash poor Rutgers in person.

The ACC thought the same thing when they brought Syracuse in and had a few games in the Meadowlands for them

BC football (like HC to an extent) once had a "subway alumni" following but it has pretty much dried (or died) up with the success of the Patriots the last couple of decades. You don't really have to go too far back....they were getting 50, 60K at then Sullivan/Schaefer in the 1970s,1980s for some games before Alumni was expanded.
It's hard to see them ever reach that broad of a fanbase evah again moving forward imo.

The Flutie effect carried BC for about 20 years after Doug left.
