OK...on to Brown.
Massey makes Holy Cross a 9 point favorite against Brown (26-17).
The Bruins have a 1-2 record after 3 games. They beat Bryant (35-30) away. They lost to Harvard (7-42) away. and today They lost at home to URI (28-31)
NOW DOWN TO HC by 6 POINTS (23-17).

While we are good enough to beat Brown, I have seen far too many games against them in Providence that ended in shoot-outs and us on the short end. Only prediction is our offense right now is incapable of a shoot out and, as always this season, the probability of a win or loss depends on how well our defense and special teams play and our offense does not have a lot of penalties and turnovers. My hope is Degenhardt has learned from today that when he pump fakes or looks off a defender he will be a lot more successful. Cozier had a great game, let's see more of him. Now the odds of the Crusaders winning has greatly improved since I can't be at the game. I believe the game will be on NESN here on Cox in RI. I will be watching if they have crowd shots to see how many of "the regulars" are there. Hope many of you can make the game in person to cheer on our team. It's a short ride down 146!

While I don't see this game being the traditonal HC-Brown shoot-out as has been alluded to, there's no reason to expect this won't be a close game.
20-16 HC is my call.
Brown bound for 7th or 8th in the Ivy this year but that doesn't mean much since that conference is as loaded as ever. I'll take any kind of win. Keep it rolling!

As some of you know, I will become a father sometime in the few weeks. With my girlfriend's due date pending, I have been and will be staying close to the roost until my daughter is born. So after Annapolis, I haven't gone to any games in person.
However, I wanted to point out for any of those inclined that HC Men's Hockey plays at Providence Friday night (Oct. 11) with the football game following the next afternoon at Brown which is a beautiful place to watch a game. As a fan of both sports, I would have eaten up the opportunity to make an overnight trip out of those two events. I hope many other Crusaders have the same idea and take advantage of the schedule!

No clue, but I tend to doubt it's carried in the NYC area hoops. It's the offshoot channel for the Sox/Bruins basically. But, in this day and age, who knows?
Has been mostly a house of horrors there dating back to the '78 game we lost there on ABC after starting 5-0.
We haven't won there since '07....losing 4 in a row at Brown Stadium.

As I mentioned in the pickems thread, the brown qb posted some great numbers. Though did have two interceptions against RI (and our defense could very well be the answer there).
brown may be poised for a breakout game as they are building steam.
CD receives player of the week in patriot league, didn’t feel his numbers were that great, but a win is a win in the PL I guess. So... maybe his head is on high and that builds confidence. Or, it builds a false sense of security.
Brown for the win...
Let’s hope our defense and special teams come out strong.

URI is a decent CAA team (very close CAA losses: OT v Delaware, 3 pts v UNH and a wild last second 4 pointer v SBU) and Brown played well in their 3-point loss to URI. ...if URI couldn't stop the Brown QB (420 passing, 92 rushing (!), 3 TDs, 2 Int), we will have great difficulty.

The game is also supposed to be on ESPN+ besides NESN+. Would guess anyone could get ESPN+ with a subscription.

Weather forecast for Providence is rain today, tomorrow, and Friday. Perhaps three and half inches. Ten percent probability of 6.5 inches.
Grass field. And IIRC, that field does not drain particularly well.

Yeah, not looking good in these parts the next few days...thinking this will hopefully be to our advantage but who knows?
Anybody here go the Brown game in Providence in 1980? It was MISERABLE....they wouldn't play today under those conditions: torrential rain, wind etc.

Thanks for the notes. A soggy field could slow down the Brown Track team and help our defense contain the second most prolific QB in the nation on Saturday.
I wonder what went into Brown being the home team two games in a row, 2014 and 2019?

Undah seems very enticing given HC D (and O), wet track etc....

I have long since stopped wagering on football...too many punched walls, spikes in blood pressure etc. for someone of my age...still curious how potential wagers may play out though Pretty sure we've been "undah" in every game this year save for maybe Navy.

I never gamble...that implies one might win from time to time. Since I stopped betting, my picks have gotten a lot better in the wins/losses department.....go figure.
