PP- I watched Heinsohn play pickup in the OFH in '59. What amazed me was his passing--which he didn't do often with the Celts.

Back in the 80's, I went to a Celtic's old timers game as a benefit for the Red Auerbach foundation. An amazing assortment of old Celts showed up and played (Russell didn't play but came and coached the green team) Anyhow at one point in the exhibition game, Heinsohn fed someont underneath and they stopped the game and gave Tommy the ball commemorating his first career assist

I believe I mentioned this on the old board; a friend who grew up & now practices law in Worcester told me that one summer evening he was at an outdoor court watching 3 on 3 when TH drove up in a convertible. he looked at my friend, a hs freshman at the time, and said 'winners?'. They had the court the rest of the evening and later TH took him out for a milk shake.
My friend & some of his high school classmates were season ticket holders until RW left; however they never liked RW lack of running or the level of competition in the PL; he and his friends came to see Carmody twice last year; maybe they will get tickets this year.

The naivete around here when it comes to Ivy League sports is laughable. They take a middle class kid and have him pay $1,150 out of the 60K and say "we don't give scholarships." Remember (with finger wagging) "I did not have sex with that woman!"

Remember (with finger wagging) "I did not have sex with that woman!" Don't think there is much naivete. The aid formula for Harvard and some of the others is available on-line. To pay only $1150 at Harvard, the "middle class" kid's parents would only be making about $75,000. There is no question that the Ivy aid is very generous, but there are many top Ivy athletes paying full freight.

It's essentially all who have parents making a collective income above $150,000. At Harvard that is a lot of athletes - especially in sports other than basketball and football. It would include the majority of athletes in sports like lacrosse etc.
