Merrimack is 0-3 so far against very tough competition - we really should win this one on our home ice

No score with 2 man advantage and now Merrimack has a power play.
Game over except final score. This team beat a #6 ranked team?!

No score with 2 man advantage and now Merrimack has a power play. Game over except final score. This team beat a #6 ranked team?! They literally had three quality shots on goal that entire night and all three went in. PC didn't play well and have a ton of freshmen.

Caught the 3rd period on NESN +, 5 on 5 we looked pretty good and were carrying the play for the most part, but MC was superior on special teams. We had very few chances on the power play and looked lost on the PK. As mentioned on another thread, we do not have any offensive difference makers and that stood out tonight in both the second and third period power plays. Life in Atlantic Hockey. Hopefully they respond well against a superior team on Saturday in Northeastern.

Unfortunately we had Open House at my school and I was only able to catch the tail end of the game. As a previous poster mentioned we looked fine 5 on 5. Good puck pursuit and support but after watching some of Merrimack's highlights, I can say our special teams lacked intensity and focus. We had one PP in the 3rd period without a shot. We were not good on the PK in the 3rd either. At that point, a 2-1 game, a good kill might have given us the momentum to tie the game at 2. Do we know who is in charge of special teams? The effort and puck support against PC was not there last night. Period.

Is not the head coach ultimately responsible for all phases of the game? It seems irrelevant if an assistant is responsible for special teams

We often defeat top ranked schools early in the season and then succumb to mediocrity in league and OOC play. Been happening with regularity over numerous years.
