We are 3-4 with our 5 remaining games against PL opponents. The PL Championship is up for grabs and some might say it's ours for the taking. We no doubt can think of many things Coach should do, but we're looking for just your top three changes or items of emphasis Coach Chesney should employ to win the next five games. We're looking for things like
Run more---
Run less--
Pass more--
Use Player X more
Replace Asst Coach Y
Pass downfield more to capitalize on WR's
Stop being so conservative on offense
Get more conservative on offense
Blitz more
Of course you should expand on whatever 3 items make your list---make a good case for your suggestions
We have many experts on the board who can think of a dozen changes they'd make if they replaced Coach Chesney but let's limit it to 3 per poster. Please resist the urge to include the lame "outscore the opponents each game"
Hope this makes for some good give-and-take

The offense on this team is absolutely pathetic. I recommend more diversified plays, plus, possibly, experimenting with a new quarterback.

1) I love all articles that list the number of AFC East QBs that have come and gone during Brady's 20 year tenure. So I am generally not a fan of a revolving door at QB. However, when CD is not clicking please try someone new to spark the offense.
2) Withdraw the patent application for the shotgun hesitation hand off play. Make that a true change of pace to surprise the defense and keep them guessing, but usually hand the ball to a running back at the line of scrimmage who is charging ahead at full speed. Challenge the O line to open holes against PL defenses.
3) Practice holding on to the ball. Play the skill players who can put a death grip on the pigskin and not give it up. On one second half play the fans, who had been treated to a baton Twirler catching and hanging on to flaming objects at halftime, were treated to CD juggling a ball above his head in the backfield. There must be "best practices" in teaching ball security. Use them with the skill position players and let them know ball security is job #1 and their playing time depends on it.

Any time you have veteran starters who are seniors and juniors vs chiefly frosh and sops the differences will typically bar dramatic...especially in the dearly part of games. That was the case yesterday. How on dearth did players who almost never fumbled, have so many in the first quarter alone?! I agree that Oliver does better when he gets the ball with a full head of steam.
The defense looked good for most of the game (despite being repeatedly forced to start so close to their own goal line again and again. On offense, there were some good openings for backs from time to time, but fumbles and dropped passes were simply to much to overcome. I hope we see the team take another step up next week...and I expect to see just that (even though Colgatenplayed better this past weekend).

Replace Spread ‘Em and Shred ’Em with a competent OC.
Get the ball in Cozier, Ayeni, and Asante’s hands as much as possible.
Don’t lose to FHCHCTG.

1. I wouldn't change a thing on defense... 2. I'd like to see a two back set. Running attack is their strength. 3. Utilize WR's speed. I do think the QB position is the biggest weakness. Everything is just too robotic and slow back there.
Harvard is really good. If they actually gave a crap about football they'd be a top ten FCS team easily. Let's see how they respond against a down Colgate team.

1. Get Degenhardt under center for atleast 50% of plays. True RPO/Air Raid only works with a dual run threat (Kyle Murray or current PSU QB) or an extremely accurate QB (Burrows, LSU). The current offensive system is too predictable and does not utilize HC's strengths. By incorporating a downhill run threat, coupled with play-action, it will give Degenhardt larger windows in the middle of the field and more man coverage that will improve his accuracy.
2. Find Creative Ways to Get Your Best Athletes The Ball. Wildcat, Reverses, Trick Plays, Screens, Etc.
3. Replace the current play caller (Murphy or Chesney) with new blood and never allow them to take on this responsibility again.
Kudos to Scott James and the defense so far this season. Dobbs is going to be a great player and there is a lot to be excited about.

We should be able to thump Colgate. They are a basketball school. On the other hand, they could turn things around and win the PL. It should be a good game on Saturday. I am looking for offensive plays that have no hesitation but instead attack the defense at full speed. The Offense knows what the play is, the Defense doesn't. Why surrender that advantage by hesitating and telegraphing?

Question: How many of us are looking for things - offensive sets, plays - that we saw used by teams during our younger school days? How much of our offense is dictated by the strengths and weaknesses of the available talent? The offense is young and still gaining much needed experience. In truth patience is a virtue. I do expect HC to finish with 7-8 wins. The outcome of the upcoming PL games will serve as my final guide. LoveHC Every system works with the proper personnel and in 2019 RPO/Air Raid is the current "trend". Good coaches are able to assess the strength of their personnel (in the Spring) and adapt a game plan for the upcoming year. How many times have you seen our OC in consistent rhythm this year? The answer is never because they aren't adapting or adjusting to the flow of the game. It's like a boxer that doesn't understand how to put combinations together.

His biggest role was the DC at Lehigh before going to Holy Cross. Chesney has a history of turning around struggling programs and look at how fast his original OC was grabbed by the NFL

Yeah, the coach's resume from his p/aying days is ultra-important--like wouldn't you prefer Vince Young or Johnny Manziel as your head coach over, say, Lou Holtz?

After high school, Holtz attended Kent State University. He was a member of the Delta Upsilon fraternity, played college football as an undersized linebacker, and graduated in 1959 with a degree in History. Holtz also trained under Kent State's Army Reserve Officers' Training Corps and earned a commission as a Field Artillery Officer in the United States Army Reserve at the time of his graduation from college. Lou Holtz has a playing career and background to be proud of.
