Does not Lafayette frequently rebuild ? Does Lehigh’s record indicate a rebuild ? I think barely beating Merrimack and St Francis qualifies as a rebuilding year. (***Correction, they lost to St Francis, so makes the earlier point) HC was pretty bad last year (my personal perspective, others will think otherwise) and they put up 56 on the squad Gilmore inherited. That alone should have Gilmore in the running for Patriot League Coach of the Year.

The Engineers lost to St Francis of Laretto actually. ..14-13 I believe.
They also lost to 2 solid FCS teams, Villanova and at UC-Davis....they are 4-3 but in general, our 4-4 is more impressive given our schedule, OOC wins, margin of our victories etc.....still, I expect a very close game tomorrow.

Imho if we don't turn the ball over this should be a 14-17 point win- Team quickness and speed vs PL opponents should differentiate us-it did for Colgate last year

I'll be making the trek to the Lehigh Valley tomorrow from Princeton. I have attended every HC-Lehigh game at Goodman starting with the epic 1991 battle, when both teams were undefeated. That was a great win for HC as was the monsoon game (2004?) when HC upset a LU team ranked in the top 10. That was probably TG's best road win during his tenure. This will be 3rd time seeing the Crusaders play live (Navy, Harvard) so i am hoping the 3rd time is the charm. I had nothing but positive interactions with Coach Gilmore in NJ and on Mount Saint James. He was a class act and a great representative for HC. An intense coach on the sidelines at times--I recall his last game at Lehigh as the HC coach when the Mountain Hawks scored on the first play from scrimmage--via a long bomb. He thoroughly chewed out the d-back, who had obviously blown his assignment. I suspect that kind of "drill sergeant" approach can wear on a team after a while. In any event, its water under the bridge. I wish TG well and am glad to see he is back in the saddle.

Princetoncrusader - the monsoon game was in 2005, which was TG’s big pivot year. The following year we played Lehigh in another lightning-delayed monsoon, this time in Worcester. Lehigh won that one.
TG actually won 3 straight at Goodman in 2005, 2007 and 2009. We have lost all four since.

TG looks relaxed. Interesting he has a staff member, Rizin (sp?) who suggested the successful pass play at the end of the fourth quarter vs GU instead of playing conservatively for overtime and TG went with it. Lehigh is winning the close ones we often lost at HC. Maybe it's Lady Luck evening out, maybe Coach Gilmore has mellowed or maybe LU has more resources for a more experienced staff, IDK. Don't forget it's a 12:30 start. This should be an excellent game.

Good video and i had the same impression of TG. There is a pre-game tailgate sponsored by the NJ alumni club. I am heading there soon with purple balloons to serve as a marker. It was 31 degrees this morning in Princeton, so probably a bit colder in the Lehigh Valley. The first frost of the season i believe. Go Cross.

It's been a while since HC had a big game in November.

Was very pleasantly surprised to see that the game is on a local tv channel here in Atlanta.

This will not be a 56-0 game either way.
As others have previously posted, Lehigh had injuries; and coaching issues last year. My understanding is Lehigh is pretty healed up and TG has the coaching issue settled and like HC, have had some good new players and improving, especially their confidence level, with each game. They also know they have to win this game, at home, to win the league.
It'll be a battle.

This referee staff seems inexperienced. They are all over the place.

4 crusader3 No offense. In my day two hundred years ago, blaming refs and citing stats were for losers. Fellow alum, with great respect and fellowship, I am not calling you a loser. As an HC alum you are a winner. But, the refs? Next, it will be the sun. Come-on, man. LoveHC Thought they called a good game on the whole. But there were a handful of calls they seemed to be deliberating over (initially calling an unsportsmanlike conduct on the wrong team before reversing, etc). But ultimately I think they handled the game very well. I was confused at one point because they were reviewing a play in which the Lehigh WR was ruled out of bounds on what would have been a first-down catch. Replay confirmed his foot was in -- however the refs had already called holding in the backfield on Lehigh. So whether or not the catch was made was inconsequential since obviously HC was still going to take the penalty if play ruled a catch. I guess in theory maybe there was the small chance we would have declined there and taken the loss of down instead of the 10 yards had the call remained incomplete so maybe that's why it was reviewed.

If I found the correct play on the play-by-play, the choice would have been 3rd & 7 or 2nd & 17. Certainly declining the penalty would have been worth considering if the play stood; however, probably more like 60/40 or 75/25 that it's accepted.
