My inbox had an announcement of his having moved to Florida.
"Clearwater Marine Aquarium (CMA) is pleased to announce Richard “Dick” Regan as its new Chief Financial Officer. His hire comes on the heels of hiring Darryl Connors as its first Chief Business Officer and at a crucial time as CMA prepares to open an expanded facility drawing visitors from across the globe."
The bonus probably was them paying for his relocation to retirement land.
Had an employee who while young managed a transfer to one of our offices in Florida with the company paying for her relocation and within a month quit to go work for Disney Insurance after getting married about 2 weeks after arriving in the Sunshine state. No one knew she was engaged. To say our company was “upset” was an understatement.
Of course, that’s not what happened in Dick’s case but I would venture he wanted to retire in Florida and this was a great way to do it. Good for him.

I would bet dollars to donuts this is an all-expense paid relocation package to retirement-land. Unlike most native Rhode Islanders who want to be born, live and die in the Ocean State, Dick is the exception that proves the rule.
When I was in middle school, an Arthur Anderson employee came for "career day" and went into great detail about the importance of integrity and transparency. Probably would have left that one off the resume.
Clearwater Marine Aquarium is home to Winter, the dolphin who starred in the Dolphin Tale movies. Many scenes were filmed on location in Clearwater. Used to be a very modest aquarium. The success of the movies has been a financial boon for them and they continue to grow.
