Now that HC has wrapped 2017 recruiting early [although nothing is final until the LOI's are in in Nov]; I wonder what are the statuses of our league opponents.
Perhaps our league friends would post summaries and/or links that would inform us.

There is a more general patriot league forum here. forums.college-sports-journal.com/viewforum.php?f=40&sid=ad32631fa61f0545650b3bd8545a825dRight now the only other recruits from the non-academies that have verbally committed are Colgate with two and BU with one. BU's recruit is PF/C Suhkmail Mathon. He had offers from Penn, La Salle, Qunnipiac, Brown, Canisius, Columbia, Colgate, Cornell, and Bucknell www.verbalcommits.com/players/sukhmail-mathonSummary on Mathon's game: "Mathon joined the Blue Devils earlier this spring and provided them with just the interior anchor they were looking for, helping them advance to the semi-finals of the Pittsburgh Jam Fest in his first weekend with the team. His immediate contributions didn't go unnoticed as he quickly saw his recruitment jump to new levels with numerous new offers coming in that ranged all the way up to the Atlantic 10. A 6-foot-9 big man who came to New England from Pennsylvania, Mathon's arrival at the Holderness School coincided with that of Woody Kampmann, who took the reigns of the NEPSAC program after previously serving as an assistant at Boston College. Under Kampmann's guidance, Mathon's game has improved at a rapid rate in the last two years. He possesses inside-out versatility on the offensive end with his ability to both post and face-up, can anchor a defense with his shot-blocking and rebounding, and also has a rapidly expanding frame inside the paint. Put it all together and he's a player who has consistently improved over the course of his two years in New England and very clearly still has his best basketball in front of him." Highlight video in link: www.newenglandrecruitingreport.com/news/mathon-makes-the-callColgate's recruits are SG Jordan Burns and SG David Maynard who committed pretty early in the procress. www.verbalcommits.com/players/david-maynardwww.verbalcommits.com/players/jordan-burns

This could be fun ... PF/C Suhkmail Mathon follows in the foot-steps of AAU teammates Geo Baker and Caleb Green who committed to Rutgers and Holy Cross in consecutive weeks.

Thanx SCS, available scholarships might be a good addition to the CSJ site; your efforts are much appreciated

Back on the new site (nice) with AU info:
Eagles have four 2017 scholarships available, replacing rising seniors Maragkos, Tolksdorf, Rhea and Charlie Jones. No commits yet. Official visits in September set up with several recruits. Will keep you informed if you're interested!

These kids are not '17 recruits (they are '19), but Colgate unofficially hosted a quartet of high level recruits. Lewis and Antoine already have offers from Kansas and are one-and-done candidates.

And just to tack on to SCS' post, BU will be losing four players after this year (Alston, Fanning, Mbargorba, Haines). Three of them are 6'8" and taller, so in addition to looking like a good player, Mathon's height will be especially welcomed. By the time he arrives on Comm. Ave I think he'll be closer to 6'11" than 6'9".
And I agree that Coach Jones has his shortcomings (tactics, winning the big game), but he does have a decent track record with big men. The three senior bigs did not contribute much when they first arrived, but now they are all serviceable to solid players.

I would not not bet a lot of money that either Lewis or Antoine will wind up at 'gate, but kudos to gate for being involved

agree on the kudos... a corollary to ...showing up is half the battle?; i.e ...getting them to show up is half the battle

AU gets its first 2017 commitment this evening from 6-6 wing Sam Iorio, from Parkland (PA) HS. Had PL offers from Lehigh, BU and Lafayette, along with Mount St. Mary's, Brown, New Hampshire and Rider. (Lehigh probably dropped out after getting a commit a couple of weeks ago from three-star recruit Marques Wilson.) Iorio was named the Player of the Year by the Allentown (PA) Morning Call. He's already scored more than 1,200 points in three seasons. Article from City of Basketball Love: www.cityofbasketballlove.com/news_article/show/700079?referrer_id=

AU gets its second 2017 commitment tonight from SF/PF Drew Lamont, from American Heritage HS in Florida. Listed two-star recruit from Verbal Commits. Had a listed offer from Jacksonville. Drew was at AU's Elite Camp this summer and took his official visit earlier this month. Honorable Mention all-Broward County last season by the Miami Herald. Listed at 6-8, 200.

BU with an absolutely monstrous pickup. Walter Whyte a consensus 3 star recruit and 119th player nationally just committed to BU. Was heavily, heavily pursued by Yale (his dad did his undergrad there) with a final 6 of Penn, Davidson, Yale, San Diego, Northeastern and BU with offers from 30 other programs including VCU, Duquesne, Fordham, and Saint Joseph's.
