His twitter title would confirm this as well.
From the Cornell team page:
Dave Metzendorf enters his third year on the Cornell basketball staff and his second season as an assistant coach. He previously spent last year as a special assistant to the head coach.
Metzendorf's first season on the sidelines in a coaching capacity coincided with one of the nation's top turnarounds, as the Big Red improved a school-record 11 games over the 2013-14 campaign. Cornell ranked among the top defensive teams in the nation, leading the Ivy League and ranking 18th in Division I in defensive field goal percentage and pacing the circuit in blocked shots. He assisted in the development of All-Ivy forward Shonn Miller and guards Galal Cancer and Devin Cherry, both of whom graduated in the top 20 all-time at Cornell in assists.
Metzendorf had responsibility for many of the behind-the-scenes tasks in the program in 2013-14, from acting as film coordinator to handling all aspects of team travel. He briefly served as assistant coach at Williams College under former Cornell captain Kevin App '07 before returning to East Hill. Metzendorf will be responsible for game and practice planning, recruiting and working with the backcourt.
Metzendorf served as a student manager for the Big Red for one season and as a student assistant for two more. He was instrumental in assisting with gameday setup, statistics and player workouts. He is a 2013 graduate of Ithaca College with a degree in sport management and earned the department’s Professional Excellence Award and the Dean's Award.

It's interesting that he is moving from assistant coach to Director of Operations. It must say something about the direction of HC hoops - or at least I hope it does.
Matt Fava had said that if he did not get a coaching job at HC, he would move on from the Director of Operations job to get a coaching job somewhere else. As it turns out even a D-III school

I believe that any HC position allows a young coach to learn from two experienced, successful head coaches with great reputations.

If one wants to be a college coach, he must build a resume! Moving around does that, plus it is another branch in the all important coaching trees. It sounds like Dave is doing just that, and he looks like a good fit on the hill!

Now he's the lowest man on the totem pole. No knock to him, just a great position to be in for both himself and our program as a whole. Note: I want this team to be Butler/Davidson Mid-Major good......

Yeah, not to knock prior staff - they didn't hire themselves - but all four of these guys are huge upgrades on their predecessors.

Whether it's administration support, new facilities, chance to get the Carmody name on the resume, or just plain love of Worcester, I'm interpreting this as a positive for the program - that the perception is out there that it's better to be low man on our totem pole than a higher spot on an Ivy League pole

Happy to have Metzendorf on the staff but I'm pretty sure he was unemployed at the time we hired him. Brian Earl only retained Jon Jaques from the prior staff and hired two new assistants to fill out his staff in May.
