In all relationships, including marriages, precious little is 50-50 So I have no problem with the fact BC means more to us my son signed to play football for BC after narrowing his choices to BC, HC and Yale- after he alone realized the choice might not be the best, he opted for William and Mary and did not play football I'm confused, why did your son choose WM over BC HC and Yale? Makes no sense to me

It was at the first mixer of my junior year that I met the woman who would become my wife. Fond memories of that old place...and some of the great concerts we heard there.

We are getting better, these games will be closer, and I believe we will steal one or two in the future ! LMBAO, that will never happen.

If you have never experienced the HC/BC rivalry, especially in football, any self-respecting HC Fan needs to read A Farewell to Glory: The Rise and Fall of an Epic Football Rivalry...Boston College vs Holy Cross by Wally Carew Read the quotes from BC players after losses to HC and I doubt you will continue to think that rivalry did not matter to them.

BTW, NDSU beating Montana State 42-14. Montana should just forfeit at this point, right? Montana should just forfeit at this point, right?
why? score is 6-2. doubt that it will happen BUT i have heard of big comebacks!! i.e. 1968 Harvard v Yale 6-22 at halftime. Final 29-29

Makes no sense to me He did not have a great visit to HC although he desperately wanted to, did not care very much for the character of kids at Yale, and didn’t believe BC had a better pre Med program. I trust his judgement as he is working at St Jude to improve health outcomes for all the vulnerable children in my opinion, having invested in multiple Georgetown and Virginia educations(6) he received by far the best academic offering at William and Mary

The idea that we would play a game that there is virtually no chance of us winning for the sake of a financial payoff is reprehensible. Football is a violent game. Every time our players play, they are risking their immediate health, their sports careers and even their health for the rest of their lives. The idea that we make them do so in order for Holy Cross to make some money is disgusting. As I said many times as regards BG's ridiculous obsession about playing UConn Women Bball, such an event is not a game. It is an EXHIBITION. Please stop trying to sugar coat it. It's even worse when you know that UConn Women Bball season ticketholders pay a significant amount of money for their tickets. Games are played only to win. Fans are cheated otherwise. My opinion does not apply to games where we have a reasonable chance of winning. As has been posted ad nauseum, there is ZERO correlation between playing better teams and increasing injury risk. We are just as likely to walk out of a game against Georgetown with major injuries as we are to finish a game against BC with major injuries. If anything, there might be LESS injury risk because a stronger opponent is more likely to play a cleaner game -- not having to resort to cheap hits, horse-collars, holds, cut blocks, facemasks etc. "Zero correlation?" Show me the study(s). I'm an Offensive lineman facing an opponent who is much quicker, more athletic, stronger. He's gonna forearm me, put me on my a** before I know what happened. In reaching out in desperation I tear my shoulder. Sure. No riskier. Give me a break.

A slower lineman from Georgetown is getting his clock cleaned by a bigger HC lineman. Then on one play he takes out the HC player with a crackback block and the injury takes the HC player out for the year. I guess thats was because Georgetown was so much faster and more athletic? Nonsense. Accidents and injuries can happen at any level.

Not necessarily. When opponents are bigger and faster they may not need to use the cheap tricks like the one that that took out our lineman. You are seeing a clear cause and effect when there is no hard evidence that the relation exists.

I remember Phil(RIP) to Bob against BC in 68 - It was special watching them night after night in practice leading up to the game, even in darkness working on sideline timing. and then you had Paul, Mike, Gary, Jim, Steve , Gerry, Bill and a host of other leaders Great memories and learnings for a freshman that was far less talented

It’s best not to trust “my gut tells me” over facts
Just because you can create a scenario it does not make it correct

I’d be most concerned about an injury to a QB in this sort of game v bigger , faster, stronger pass rushes. Reason #73 why the hopelessly overmatched team is generally VERY prudent in play selection (avoiding deep drops in otherwise obvious passing situations, etc.).

Sorry but the burden of proof is on those kicking and screaming about how these games supposedly result in a greater number of injuries for the weaker team. Where is the evidence that that's true? I don't recall hearing that our team was any more decimated by injury after the UCONN, BC, Syracuse or Navy games than any other game. And if you want to do the anecdote thing here goes: Georgetown schedules DIII Catholic University, a FAR greater mismatch than even HC playing Clemson. Because the Catholic University left tackle has zero chance to stop the rush end from the Hoyas because of the egregious speed and size difference, he grabs his jersey and horse-collars him to the ground, tearing his shoulder. Then, when Georgetown has the ball, a Catholic DT cuts a Georgetown lineman who is already engaged and dominating his opponent, breaking his leg.

Sometimes when I read these posts It seems almost as though we have been living on different planets. It makes for interesting reading on a quiet Saturday afternoon. Although I have no interest in watching HC play against almost all FBS teams, excluding the service academies, the 2 NE State U's - no need to explain as there truly is no contradiction as some might be tempted to post. TBT I think these FBS games cheapen our program. In the 80's I was at the BC game in Foxboro and watched HC get slaughtered on the field. (Troy Stradford, if I'm not confused?) It was a horror. I vowed I would never attend another one of these games again and I haven't and I will not. However if the good Fathers on the hill have given their blessing to play against FBS opponents, so be it. Enjoy yourselves! To my point. Renewing the Dartmouth series looms much larger on my list of HC football "things to do ." LoveHC I think we can do both with a breakdown as follows PL 6 IVY 3 FBS 2 While I support us playing a local FBS game more or less every year, I don't think playing two of these per season will ever be the norm. Nor would I want it to be, minus the rare exception in a 12-game season. I think it's great for recruiting, fan engagement, game experience for the team (and the paycheck of course) that we play BC, Syracuse, UCONN, Army, Navy, etc. But after we play one of these in a given year, I'd be on the moose/sota side of things wanting to see more level competition for the remainder of the schedule.
