Their soccer program has been fully funded for a few years. Just has not been very good in recent years. They hired a new coach in 2014 - one who had coached at McDonogh for many years and also was director of one of Maryland's top soccer clubs. He obviously has a lot of connections to landing Baltimore-area players. However I don't think they have much chance to replicate the success of their lacrosse team, which has such a great history. Loyola is neck-and-neck with Boston U in terms of expenditures on soccer. Sadly Bucknell is last and still has zero scholarships, which does not make me very happy given its long tradition of good soccer. Here is Loyola's press release on their freshman class. It looks very good on paper, but soccer recruiting has never been an exact science: www.loyolagreyhounds.com/sports/m-soccer/spec-rel/040216aaa.html

not a good look for HCMK now that all current players are his recruits. Hope they prove the PL wrong!

I don't think it does.

I don't think it does. Might or might not. Depends on the coach. McDonogh has been one of the top few HS teams in the country and he has coached a large number of future D1 players fwiw. Also his club teams have won nine national championships. The caliber of players in those games was probably at least equal to what you would see in the Patriot League. He also was an assistant at Loyola many years ago. Whether he will be efficient when it comes to actual coaching probably remains to be seen. However if nothing else, it appears that he has used his background to land a lot of potentially good players
