Fellow Saders,
First, I want to congratulate the 2019 Holy Cross Football Crusaders on their PL championship and future FCS playoff run. Coach Chesney has this program moving in the right direction and I am amped about it. I also want to congratulate the dedicated fans and alumni on this site for their continued years of unwavering support.
Now to get down to brass tax. I am of the philosophy that one must strike while the iron is hot! I believe, now more than ever, it is time to make a much needed addition to historic Fitton Field. A campaign to replace the scoreboard on Fitton with a Jumbotron could gain serious traction on the heels of the league championship. The investment could prove to be a useful recruiting tool and a much needed addition to the game-day atmosphere. I recognize there is some building restrictions on Fitton but I am confident the hurdle can be overcome. Just wanted to throw the idea out there. Lets keep this success going!
Roll Saders!!!!

A Jumbotron would be awesome, but I would think we would move to improve our stadium locker rooms first.

Typically there is some ad money that pays for a good deal of this?
I have to agree in principle, like I mentioned last week, if an inferior facility like Jack Coffey can have one, Fitton can.

I liked the one I saw at CCSU a few years ago. Surely HC could find a donor for such a prominent site for ads.

Early on in his tenure, ADNP explored having a mobile video board that could be alternately used for football and other field sports; e.g., lacrosse in the spring. I don't know how seriously this was examined. And as we know, video boards have yet to appear at the Hart court.

Would be great, but we are still awaiting the Tinytron at the Hart (going on 3 years) Not holding any breath here!

The lack of one at the Hart does put this in perspective...and, sadly, not in good light.

There would be video board(s) in the Hart before there ever would at Fitton for a multitude of reasons.

I always crack up when someone mentions the locker rooms. The most important thing to them is a space where someone changes their clothes 5 times a year.

Maybe you ought to ask the players & recruits at HC - or any other school for that matter - if a decent locker room matters to them, because it most certainly does.

Too bad the video quality on the Jack Coffey jumbo-tron is so bad that you would need binoculars for it to be even worth trying to watch a replay.

I have to agree in principle, like I mentioned last week, if an inferior facility like Jack Coffey can have one, Fitton can. The ad $ HC generates doesn't come close to what's needed to cover the cost and residual expenses.

Any idea of ballpark cost ? Based on size and application obviously. ~500K for large outdoor weather proof and ~150K smaller indoor I'd guess.

I want the future opponents/schedule back up at the top of the closed endzone If you remember that, you're old school HC

Winning programs with a strong conference affiliation and some real media exposure get advertising$$$$. HC not at that point! Need deep pocketed Alums to foot the bills

I asked Nate Pine that exact question last Fall and he told me that the ballpark cost for video boards for the Hart Center was about $2 million. That why with all the work done as at Luth he felt they should wait a bit before spending that kind of money.

I find it very hard to believe that hard up front costs for the size of video boards the Hart could accommodate would be a mil a piece. They're basically very large TV's.
Outdoor is a different story.

I want the future opponents/schedule back up at the top of the closed endzone If you remember that, you're old school HC I remember it well. You are probably too young to remember it being the the game clock and no, it wasn't digital. Think Big Ben like hands. The Fenway type scoreboard was where the current scoreboard is.

It so time for the Jumbotron at Fitton. Some IVY's have them, Harvard, Yale, Brown, Lehigh, Fordham. Its time we deserve it.
